"I voted for it before I voted against it"
So spake Santos a few minutes ago on "The West Wing" regarding CAFTA. And you should have seen Janeane quietly FREAK OUT. Talk about reliving a terrible moment.

1. No creativity

This season has been TERRIBLE. Instead of using the news as inspiration, they're just copying it word for word.

2. I long for the days
when Bartlett would wax philosophical about who knows what and Toby would get all serious and rant and rave about injustice and Donna would drop her panties at the feet of a reporter. So far, this season ain't no fun. But I'll hang in there.

3. There's a few Repubs who could say the reverse about the refinery bill

"I voted against it before I voted for it"..
i.e., the ones that were arm-twisted into it in the gross breach of government that occurred in the House this week, with the extended voting period.

On edit: And of course, in Kerry's case it wasn't the exact same bill. Several Republicans -- including Wayne Gilcrest (R-MD), C.W. Bill Young (R-FL) and Jim Gerlach (R-PA) -- were "convinced" to change their vote in the same voting period.

5. I Think the way the show is playing this is just right.
Perhaps the tv audience will now understand dirty campaign tactics.
