Here is DU's chance to be heard. Beginning tonight at 8.p.m. EST CSPAN is celebrating 25 years of programming by honoring viewers with 24 hours of open calls.

3. The only people who really watch C-Span already have their minds firmly
made up. They are people who are more interested than most in political matters. It's hard to imagine anyone changing sides because of what they heard on Cspan.

6. So?
i generally can't listen to those whacko's anymore...because rarely are they called on their crap. Might be nice to have the opportunity to respond before they change the topic or switch programming.

10. my post said "get your rant on"
not listen to the wackos. you don't have to listen to be able to call in and for those of you that don't care... you don't have to grace this thread with your presence.

However, I do still believe that there are people here that may be interested and I absolutely know that DU and it's community has the ability to make a difference!

12. I disagree
I have learned a lot from watching c-span. it's a place to see where other people think, and THAT other people think... for every wacko there's someone who's giving reasoned points and i am very thankful for it, because it humanizes us all.

7. It doesn't say in the program discription
A 25-hour call-in marathon commemorates 25 years of viewer calls that began with television's first-ever, regularly scheduled, national viewer call-in program on October 7, 1980, when the 19-month-old network televised a live viewer call-in program from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

I do know they have scheduled guest, but have no idea if topics will be structured.

8. No Shit! That's Great.
I will be listening. Here's something I have said before that doesn't seem to be much appreciated, but something I believe to the depth of my heart: C-Span is of greater value in perserving our Democracy than any one of the branches of our military - usually I say the Marine Crops.

17. Y'AWL call in!
I haven't heard the words "y'all" used so much since Reagan was president! Do normal people really say that in everyday life? (And, if they do, WHY?)

It's what we say in the South. Everyone says y'all here. It's a great word. :) It's the contraction of you all.

Where do you live? Don't they say "you guys" in the Northeast?

22. So we can't call in?
According to the schedule, they'll feature calls from 1980 to the present. They don't mention anything about live call-ins.
