Looking for AAR raitings
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 08:43 AM by FreedomAngel82
Does anybody have them? Some on a local board are stating how AAR is failing and don't have the stats as Rush etc. :eyes: So I'm wondering about raitings for the station.

1. Google radio ratings for a specific market (station)
If they are "failing" then why do they have 70 stations nationwide, an XM radio channel and live streaming? Why is AL Franken kicking ass in NYC? Etc.

Also google a radio trade publication. It should have an overall view of AAR.\ ratings.

2. Radio & Records...
http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRRatings/

These have the overall ratings for specific stations market-by-market.

More detailed information...age groups, sex, race and other demographic details are rarely available unless you're a subscriber to Aribtron.

These ratings cover 12+...and don't specify by daypart. It's like getting the GPA...not the specific classes and grades.

You'll need to find the specific AAR station (those are on the website)...then look at the other Talk stations in the market. I strongly suggest comparing the AAR station with the ones owned by Salem Media...they own the most right wing hate stations...in many markets the AAR station soundly beat the "Patriot" station.

Keep in mind most AAR stations are on smaller AM signals that don't cover the entire survey area compared to the more established major signals (the ones that usually carry Rushbo)...so again you're not looking at a level playing field.

Peace...

3. See this Wikipedia information and Google Radio and Records for ratings.
Ratings

Air America affiliates have gotten off to a strong start in some markets, and have performed poorly in others. In Arbitron's Spring 2005 ratings book, the most recent available as of October 2005, Air America stations showed significant percentage gains in a number of large markets, including Los Angeles, Denver, Washington, and Phoenix, though ratings in most markets continued to lag well behind those of older, more established talk stations. The cumulative listening audience of Air America affiliate stations showed an increase from 1.3 million persons age 12 and up in fall 2004 to 3.1 million in spring 2005, much of which was due to listeners gained when the network added new stations around the country during that time. <8>

In New York City, Air America's flagship station WLIB won a 1.3-percent share of the market audience in the spring of 2004, the network's first full quarter of operation. WLIB's rating rose to 1.4 percent in the summer of 2004 before gradually declining to 1.0 by the spring 2005 rating period, where it remains today.<9> WLIB's The Al Franken Show is consistently beaten in its time slot by popular conservative host Rush Limbaugh on WABC, the flagship station of the ABC Radio Network, although Franken's program typically beats that of WOR talker Bill O'Reilly, whose long-running feud with Franken provides frequent material for both hosts, in the crucial 25-54 demographic.

Conservative critics of Air America often deride the network's ratings on WLIB, which typically fail to outperform the Caribbean music format the station programmed before 2004. Defenders point to Air America stations' performance nationwide, which has trended generally upward, and in markets including Los Angeles (where listenership on station KTLK has tripled since the beginning of the year) and Portland, Oregon (where station KPOJ ranks second among AM stations and fifth overall).

A daily podcast of The Al Franken Show has consistently appeared in the list of the most popular podcasts downloaded each day from Apple Computer's iTunes website since being introduced in the spring of 2005.

For more ratings information, see the listings at Radio and Records, and search by call letter within the specific markets.

5. Here's something different - streaming ratings
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 01:33 PM by Fighting Irish
I assume this is just for the main AAR stream, and not those of affiliates and third-party relayers.

As for terrestrial radio, Radio and Records publishes 12+ overall numbers on it's site (though advertisers buy based on demographic ratings breakdowns). 12+ at least gives a vague idea of how they're doing. For a list of affiliates, go to AAR's site and look up the markets. Or you can find a list of AAR and non-AAR stations on my blog (click banner below). I'll do a little digging as well too and get back to this thread.
