13. bug me not rules!
I know the pic is posted below, but bugmenot.com is great for sites that require free registration, and you don't want to give out your info...and if you have mozilla firefox as your browser, you can install a plug-in that adds bugmenot to your right click function, inserts logins instantly! I love it.

4. OMFG! That's the propaganda promo for * that they had Scholastic produce?
That image is unreal....to even equate and have him on the same page with Lincoln, JFK and Washington....

The worst PResident ever and they put them on the book with the greats? And notice, they don't have the images in order either....they gave George the primo top right position...hmmmm...

You just have marvel at how thoroughly pathetic is the whole effort to prop up the boy king. I have a great many things to be thankful for, not the least of which is that I wasn't born a rich, petulant loser like Bush.

Is our children learning?

36. Rich, petulant loser and the luckiest SOB on the planet.
Bankrupt three oil companies, not a problem, Daddy will bail you out. Insider trading, again not a problem, Daddy will stop any investigations. Want a baseball team, Daddy will make sure that happens. Leader of the free world, all yours, criticism free or Mama will make 'em pay. Yep, luckiest SOB on the planet.

10. What is the story on the book?
Who paid to have it produced? Was this done with government funds, or is it purely a product from Scholastic? If it was the government, it is one more example of our tax funds being used to aggrandize a despicable (p)resident. If it was done by Scholastic, I hope they receive a lot of letters of complaint.

regardless of who is occupying the oval office, i'd not find it unusual for a book on president's cover to feature the current president, along with the first, and other prominent presidents. it's not like they got Nixon, Reagan, Poppy and Junior all on the cover.

17. Why, all of the sudden, is Hughes dumping on her family again?
Remember, she left Washington to spend more quality time with her family? It was such a heartwarming story :puke: it almost brought a tear to my eye. Now she's more or less telling her family to "fuck off", my blivet buddy needs me more to spread propaganda across the world. The red plastic containers in the freezer are for dinners, the green ones are for lunches and get your own damn breakfast.
What a crock of shit. This beast of a woman has all the charm of a 300lb. sow in a wallow on a hot August day. What happened to her oh so precious family all of the sudden? Saving her old pal bush's ass takes precedent over the hubby and kids any day I guess.

22. Dictionary.com
blivet

/bliv'*t/ "ten pounds of manure in a five-pound bag"] 1. An intractable
problem.

2. A crucial piece of hardware that can't be fixed or replaced
if it breaks.

3. A tool that has been hacked over by so many incompetent
programmers that it has become an unmaintainable tissue of
hacks.

4. An out-of-control but unkillable development effort.

5. An embarrassing bug that pops up during a customer demo.

6. In the subjargon of computer security specialists, a
denial-of-service attack performed by hogging limited
resources that have no access controls (for example, shared
spool space on a multi-user system).

This term has other meanings in other technical cultures;
among experimental physicists and hardware engineers of
various kinds it seems to mean any random object of unknown
purpose (similar to hackish use of frob). It has also been
used to describe an amusing trick-the-eye drawing resembling a
three-pronged fork that appears to depict a three-dimensional
object until one realises that the parts fit together in an
impossible way.

31. Perhaps we should not judge this book by the cover.
A customer's review:

I purchased this book for my 8 yr. old son at our local school's book fair. Beautiful design, loads of information, the name "scholastic" on the cover. . . seemed perfect. Imagine my dismay when I came home and got a chance to actually read some of the entries--notably George W. Bush. Is David Rubel a member of Moveon.org? Of the DNC? Was he Howard Dean's speechwriter?

This author was COMPLETELY biased and it is definitely NOT an "encyclopedia"-- despite its claim to the contrary. Encyclopedias are supposed to be unbiased. Children's books, especially, are not supposed to reek of bias. David Rubel makes it clear that GWB is reviled--deservedly so--by everyone. His entry on Bush clearly shows us his own personal views. He believes that only religious Christians support Bush, that Bush divided this country, that Bush only sees one side of every issue, and that he has angered the country by siding against stem cell research, pulling out of Kyoto, and the International Criminal Court. There's much more. As a matter of fact, there isn't ONE positive comment attributed to Bush, and there is a whole lot of negative "spin". Scholastic ought to be ashamed of themselves for passing this off as an encyclopedia and might want to consider repackaging this book as "The Liberals Take on our US Presidents and Their Times".

How many parents will buy this because their Boy George is on the cover?
