WH official: Sunshine cancelled Bush's San Antonio stop
President Bush was supposed to land here on Friday afternoon on the first stop of a tour intended to make clear that he was personally overseeing the federal government's preparations for Hurricane Rita's landfall. But the weather did not cooperate.

It was too sunny.

Just minutes before Mr. Bush was scheduled to leave the White House, his aides in Washington scrubbed the stop in San Antonio. Scott McClellan, the White House press secretary, explained that the search-and-rescue team that Mr. Bush had planned to meet and thank here in San Antonio was actually packing up to move closer to where the hurricane would strike.

.....

Another White House official involved in preparing Mr. Bush's way noted that with the sun shining so brightly in San Antonio, the images of Mr. Bush from here might not have made it clear to viewers that he was dealing with an approaching storm.

Karl Rove, top Bush political adviser, visiting Fargo on Saturday
By DALE WETZEL Associated Press Writer
The Associated Press - Saturday, September 24, 2005

BISMARCK, N.D.

Karl Rove, President Bush's top political adviser, plans to speak Saturday at a GOP fundraiser and meet with Gov. John Hoeven, whom Republicans hope to coax into running against Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D.

Hoeven said he will attend the Fargo fundraiser and meet with Rove, but he downplayed the visit's significance.

"We'll talk about a variety of things," the governor said. "Obviously, I talk to the administration on a regular basis about all kinds of different issues. Just because he's coming out, that doesn't mean that's the only time I get to talk to him. I think that gets overplayed."

Conrad, who was first elected to the Senate in 1986, plans to run for re-election next year. He recently began running a television ad to talk up his role in pushing highway construction and energy legislation, and his lobbying on behalf of North Dakota's military installations.

4. Tyra Bush
We should call this imitator "Tyra Bush" since he's been modeling so much lately. And extremely picky about the shoot.

With apologies to Tyra Banks.

5. Maybe the search-and-rescue team that Mr. Bush had planned to meet
Just didn't want to meet with him. Maybe they planned on being prepared to help the victims of the hurricane.
Maybe the rescue team felt he would be in the way and told bu$h to go away.
Just maybe.

10. Split screen of Chimpy grinning like the Cheshire Cat in the sunshine...
...and on the other screen water pouring through the levees for which he is 100% responsible for now. Wouldn't have looked good.

14. President Bullshit - President Potemkin - President Smoke'n'Mirror
Just when you think they couldn't get any more vacuous and petty and condescending and clueless and enbubbled, they come through once again to astound and amaze with their idiocy and total lack of substance.

They really do think we're all idiots, don't they?

16. The stupidest part?
We were sunny here on the Colorado Front Range. And our sun is frickin' serious!

Seen Redford lately? He's a product of mountain sun. The old ranchers here a LEATHERED! Colorado has one of the highest rates of skin cancer.

We are 5280 feet higher, we have almost no humidity (which means little if any hays)...heck...we are a high plains desert.

If they wanted to go to a place with less sun...why the hell would they wait until they got to CO?

17. Also, no appearances/pics with Gov. MoFo, the infamous Rita failure
Had the evacuation of Houston and the Gulf Coast gone well, Junior would've been here in a heartbeat, slappin' backs for the cameras, sunshine or no sunshine. But with the images of pure hell on TX highways, he'd rather let Gov. HairProducts publicly twist in the wind alone. No photo-ops with other failures! KKKarl decreed it.

Edited on Sat Sep-24-05 08:26 AM by Coastie for Truth
Nothing is quite as disruptive to First Responders, Volunteer Responders, and an Emergency Operations Center as a Presidential Photo Op (with advance people, secret service people, satellite trucks, media people, security sweeps, barricades, etc.).

"Coastie"

Red Cross- Disaster Assistance Team Captain, Mass Shelter Manager

23. Jeez, talk about lack of effort.
They could have assigned a S&R team to be diverted from .... well, somewhere. The WH personnel could then have had the people from the S&R team hold a tarp over * to block the sun. To complete the image, a member of the SS team traveling with * could have stood on a ladder and poured water on him from a floral watering can...

Voila! Instant storm photo op!

They're losing that 'special touch'.
