US chopper crashes west of Baghdad

Fallujah, Oct 7 - A US military helicopter crashed near the Iraqi city of Fallujah, west of Baghdad, on Tuesday, witnesses told AFP.

The chopper fell into a ravine outside Fallujah, 50 kilometers from the capital, according to two local people who said they saw the chopper go down.

They said they did not hear any explosion while the helicopter was in the air but did hear one when it crashed.

US helicopter hard landing in Iraq, minor injuries

BAGHDAD, Oct. 7 — The U.S. military said on Tuesday that there were ''minor injuries'' when one of its helicopters made a ''hard landing'' west of Baghdad.
''At 1:50 p.m. (1050 GMT) today, there was a hard landing, not a crash, in the vicinity of Habbaniya,'' a U.S. military spokeswoman said.
''It was a maintenance test flight. There were minor injuries.''
There were no further details. Habbaniya is about 50 km (30 miles) west of Baghdad
