8. Harkin talking now.
'Anyone who can command NATO, win that war in Kosovo without losing one American life knows what it means to hold political office.' -- Harkin.

Overall, Harkin did a great job of attacking Bush. iirc, he was too bland as a candidate, but I liked him in '91 for his urbanity and intelligence.

15. Texas Democratic Chair Molly Beth Malcolm
Clark picked up some Southern endorsements from Arkansas Democratic Chairman Ron Oliver, Vice Chair Karla Bradley as well as Texas Democratic Chair Molly Beth Malcolm. Malcolm mentioned there were private endorsementsmade to the gneral by other state Democratic chairmen who will endorse publicly “when the time is right.” She told me that she had met Clark at a Democratic dinner in 2001 shortly after he had also visited with the Republican Party where he praised the Bush administration. Malcolm, who sat with the general at the dinner, was told that Clark had been invited because he had inquired with the Arkansas Democratic Party if “there was something he could do for the Democratic party” in the area as well.

...was talking of a country (most likely former USSR) and how he saw how quickly their ideas reformed, and claimed that he has seen "young communists become young democrats"...

of course he meant small "d" democrats as in they support democracy, but one could twist it by saying that he said communists are supporters of the democratic party.

The $100 billion from tax increases on $200K+ crowd - $20 billion would go into job creation for homeland security. In other words, move away from the privatization of security jobs that the Bush admin current favors.

110. economic recovery points
Pulled this from his site, FWIW

Clark's plan will maintain fiscal discipline while creating new jobs. Doesn't specifically answer the question at hand though.

- Create a Homeland and Economic Security Fund of $40 billion over two years. The fund will both create jobs and boost America's defenses by improving port security, investing in critical infrastructure and better equipping first-responders.

- Create a state and local Tax Rebate Fund of $40 billion over two years. States and local governments are in crisis, staggering under a projected $80 billion deficit. The rebate fund would return money to localities, lessening the need to raise property taxes, fees and university tuition and giving the economy room to create more jobs.

- Provide $20 billion in business tax incentives over two years. Clark's plan would give businesses a tax credit of up to $5,000 for every new employee hired in 2004 and 2005, helping to end this jobless recovery.

88. I'm gonna bring a lot of people to this party (??) hmm..
I wish he could stop reminding people that he hasn't been a democrat for long, or trying to defend himself.

I think he should have said "I've always held the same beliefs" and then list them, and then make some cool, clever quip about how he realized he always belonged at "home" in the democratic party or something like that...

Damn I'd be a good political operative. :D

THey talked about going into Iraq before the Election. In the debates, Bush said that he didn't believe in PeaceKeeping, but he would use the military to overthrow Dictators, now we know who he was talking about

He's actually answering the question asked, not going off on some canned spiel that may/may not be related.

Liked his answer on the "No Child...blah" act.

very receptive to him. Of course there was that one wisenheimer who had to bring up the Lincoln Day remarks... I'm glad he asked. I want to hear what Clark has to say about these contoversial issues.

109. Would you reject NAFTA?
Will subsequent agreements include strong labor and environmental regulations?

NAFTA is a fact, must work to improve it.

Will not enact trade agreements without L and E protections (phrased strongly, as a promise).
