...(Rochester NH) was 3rd week of OCTOBER two or three years back....in fact that year was interesting because we had only 140 days between that snow and the last snow of the prior winter...first or second week in May,if I recall....in a BAD winter think 6 foot snowbanks along the driveway and that 2 week coldspell that never breaks 0 degrees.... Myself and my family will be OK but I pray for my neighbors...I stock emergency supplies and use oil, kerosene, and wood heating. I have heat tapes on my plumbing and can let perimeter rooms cool off if I need to heat just the core rooms...But I am lucky...A GOOD winter up here kills a few, a BAD one may get really ugly..
