Have you heard of this Constitution Day thing?
Starts in about 20 minutes. According to Bush, every American should recite the preamble to the constitution simultaneously at the top of the hour. My girlfriend is dragging me to this thing in a few minutes.

I sure am glad Bush has the money to fund an official Constitution Day celebration, but can't adequately fund the levees that protected NO.

1. I sure am glad...
Bush can instate a Constitution Day, but completely ignores the actual document :eyes:

2. Robert Byrd of West Virginia did that.

He is passionate about the Constitution, and believes, rightly IMHO, that the schools need to teach it more.

Also, the Preamble would be a good replacement for the pledge.

4. Here you go. The Preamble:

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." :)

5. Reciting the preamble makes sense.
After the "Patriot" Act and five years of Bush*, it is the only part of the Constitution left intact.

6. I'd rather say that than the pledge...
And if the kids had trouble remembering it, they could listen to the Schoolhouse Rock song. That's how I learned it and I was 8 - I can still recite it to this day because of that song! :)
