actually, i'm quite serious.

for most of us, truth is reality. saying "saddam tried to buy uranium" is truthful only if saddam actually, in reality, tried to buy uranium.

for bush, that same statement is truthful not because it has any roots in reality, but, rather, because saying it is part of a truthful strategy, a truthful aim, a truthful goal.

he believes his cause is just and sanctified by god, so whatever he has to do to acheive that end must by truthful and just and good.

the ends don't merely justify the means, they bless them.
