Dear God...Solidiers are guarding Saks and Gucci in NO's! LOOTERS
might want their sodden goods filled with toxic chemicals to sell for DRUGS! I'm so Shocked. Isn't it Wonderful that Bush finally put in NG with F-16's to defend the soggy goods flooded with toxic waste against these LOOTERS...who might take it out Highway 10 and make a profit on the backs of these poor business owners.

Business Owners of New Orleans UNITE..THE LOOTERS ARE AT THE GATE.

Heard on Keith Olbermann's "Countdown" tonight on MSNBC.

LOOTERS are the STORY! CRIME....CRIME.....CRIME......CRIME...Got It?

3. Lie #1
I think Karl Rove's original plan, when explaining Bush's failure to respond to the worst natural disaster in American history, was to claim that rescue workers, and first responders couldn't respond due to armed marauding bands of criminals.

The news cameras made that cover story untenable.

No sense in back-tracking, now, though...

The lie will be bought by a few, so it's still out there, in whispers.

4. It seemed to be a straight news story report. I didn't hear
him counter it with one of his "pithy" comments that can go right back in your face...I've not seen alot here I could recommend from him. Maybe he's having a Corporate Whore Media Moment, tonight.

Others might see it differently. I just posted what I saw.

8. I'm curious about tonight's Countdown
because in the show's daily email they said they would show the failure of local authorities.

11. There's a segment coming up on that...maybe it's good and worth the
watch. I had to turn it off... But, there's an Olbermann thread here on DU in "DU Groups," I think. That might fill you in more to see if his show was balanced... Maybe there's good stuff there.

As I said, I posted what I saw which was a the "top" of his show. I'm not dissing him, here, but I found that report which seemed to be given to him sort of Media Whore stuff.

15. BTW....I ended up turning it on for his second half....just to see if it
got better and it did. Keith got some good jabs in at Bush/FEMA with the screw ups. He got the Atlanta Firefighter's who were forced to pose with him to make it seem like "9/11 Redux" and he had Eric Boehlert from Salon Mag. with his article about how Bush/FEMA reacted to the Four Hurricanes in Florida last year with the checks being cut, the temporary housing expedited and the food rushed in...all because it was an election year.

so...on that he was pretty good. But Keith did say about Nancy Pelosi's statement that Bush was dangerous, this : Keith: "...an out of control comment today by House Speaker Nanci Pelosi where she said..."

Keith dissed Nancy by saying "an out of control comment." It was when Nancy said bush was "dangerous," today. It's been posted all over DU.

2. Begs the question...
Why would Gucci & Saks need our tax dollars to guard their stores?

Why can't they hire their own guards?

<< like we don't know why >>

5. Isn't that the truth. How much of that stuff in NO is even worth anything
anymore. The grocery stores, the dept stores, the tv stores will be claiming everything as lost and damaged. Not justifying looting big items, but don't think they're going to be selling any of it.

12. And...the owners can write it off on their business insurance and tax
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 07:33 PM by KoKo01
income. We are small business owners. If this happened to us we'd write it off as a loss. Call our insurance company get the figure on what they would give us and the difference we would write off on our IRS Form at the end of the year.

What business like Saks or Gucci is going to send employees in there to wring out wet clothes and scrape shit and toxic chemicals off the purses and shoes so they can sell the merchandise? The media takes Americans for fools. Really.

14. And people are saying looters should be shot. Not a damaged good
is worth killing over. They should have been protecting the people in the dome and convention center. They needed armed presence. The durable goods didn't.

6. soldiers are guarding the oil ministry?
no, wait that's the other place.

Every report is so insane, I hardly know how to react anymore. I'm assuming I'll wake up from this nightmare eventually. It's a very long nightmare, though...

9. I clicked on this thread
And then changed my mind about what to post because this shit leaves me speechless. AND I kid you not, I got a friggin' GUCCI pop-up. I not kidding! I hate Gucci especially their ugly purses. If I had that kind of money it would definetly go on a different company. But what is up with the pop up? Better look at my security again. (sigh)

17. Yep, it's the looters fault
My aunt is a decent and kind woman. Intelligent too, a masters degree. Today talking about New orleans she said they did as well as they could, the city was filled with violence and looters.
I suggested most looters were heroes to those they brought food and drink, or even shoes and clothing after going through that nasty water.
OK she said that might be justifiable.
I asked if it would it be better not to if it meant people dying.
No, she didn't think so, but then she angrily talked about the TV's that were taken.
I asked why she cared.
Then she went on to say they couldn't get them out because the rescue flights were shot at. I told her pilots denied that but even if there was a shot, does that make soldiers leave?
She thought it would, why should they risk their life?
I mentioned Iraq and at first she was angry saying "That's a war."

But to her credit she realized they risk their life in a country where we aren't wanted, but here a single shot was keeping them from savings Americans and that seemed wrong.

Yes. Yes it does seem wrong.
