"Democrats are enemies of the America people." This was printed
in the "call-in" comments of my hometown paper.

1. I can't believe they printed it as it sounds awfully damn close to hate speech. Countries kill their "enemies," don't they?

2. I'm trying to phrase the perfect comeback . . . any ideas?

1. Sounds like the writer has been limbaughized.. And we only
have to look as far as bush&co to see who are the "enemies of America". If they would stick their heads out of their ditto asses and look around they could see that.

2. I don't suppose they would print, "Fuck you"?
Seriously you could just point out that anyone who thinks their fellow Americans are "enemies" might not be the best qualified to judge who is and isn't an enemy.

3. Maybe something like...
...Yeah, the New Deal was definitely out to destroy America (most of whom were starving because of the Depression), and the Berlin Airlift was out to destroy America AND Germany.

And the Civil Rights Act of 1964? No doubt we passed it because we hate America, all right. Clean Air Act? Clean Water Act? Yep. Hate those Americans; make 'em breathe and drink shit!

19. Some times you have to give credit where credit is due
Without the support of the Repugs the Civil rights act of 64 would not have passed.

The Republican Party was not so badly split as the Democrats by the civil rights issue. Only one Republican senator participated in the filibuster against the bill. In fact, since 1933, Republicans had a more positive record on civil rights than the Democrats. In the twenty-six major civil rights votes since 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 % of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 % of the votes

7. Time to move
I'm serious.

When that kind of crap gets accepted as main-stream enough to be printed, brownshirts are seldom far behind.

I'd choose to confront the brownshirts, not run away from them.

9. This person probably isn't too intelligent
so any witty comments will simply pass waaaaaaayyyyy over their head. You probably want to keep it simple and stupid to have the desired effect.

something like "Republicans want to destroy all things they don't understand like math, science, history, english, logic, books, toilet paper, grammer, etc..."

11. Try this...
Historically Americans roughly break down 50/50 when it comes to political affiliation. Half Dem, half GOP.

Now look at this data

US War deaths since 1940
WWII 405,000
Korea 54,000
Viet Nam 58,000
Gulf Wars 400

That's over 500,000 Americans. Probably around 250,000 Democrats dying for their country.

Then tell the SOB who said Democrats are the enemies of the American people to

GO TO HELL!

It's awful to admit but I did not really know those numbers. Horrible. Thanks for informing me. 405,000!

12. This could end up with Neo-McCarthyism
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 11:07 PM by FDRrocks
Democrats love Al-Qaeda. There are LIBERALS IN OUR MIDSTS.

Liberals like minorities, it is obvious they are militant communists hell bent on overthrowing our country.

Democrats give solace to the Iraqi Baa'thists that sit around watching MSNBC all day!

Ein reich, Heil Fuhrer Bush!

I think I could fill Coulters boots if I drank enough.

I personally don't think a statement like that requires a retort. Even if you live in freeperland there are Democrats everywhere.

15. It's a shame
but there are people out there who really do believe that. Some of them live in my neighborhood. I can't put up a yard sign for a Democratic candidate because my house will get egged. My own father calls me a communist. Friends of my children tell them Democrats should all be shipped out of the country.

And shrub was gonna be a uniter, not a divider. Yeah right.

17. I'm stuck with a Republican government who...
lost over 3,000,000 jobs, created a 500,000,000,000 deficit, bought off its campaign contributors with enormous tax cuts, left 2.5 million MORE of our citizens without health insurance, increased the number of children now living in poverty by 1.5 million, and invaded a country under false pretenses, at a cost of over 160,000,000,000 and counting. It certainly feels as though the American people are under attack by an enemy of the United States.

20. Was I an enemy of my country when I served during Vietnam?
I was a Democrat then as now and I voted in `76 for the first time. Straight Democratic ticket all the way baby. I must really hate my country. Or maybe just the right wing assholes who took it over without the permission of the voters. But some judges who voted in the minority. Were able to grant equal protection to the spoiled brat who got less votes than Al Gore. Yeah I know who the enemies of my country are. And it is not Democratic party supporters like myself.
Peace
