Blanco just flipped Bush the bird.
Good for her. She is doing the right thing for her state and for New Orleans by bringing James Lee Witt into the picture, but I have to tell you my first thought was that she was sending out a big FU to the prez. I could imagine she is getting pretty pissed off at the BS coming out of DC. Bringing Witt in tells this FEMA loser Brown that she thinks he is an ass and slaps Bush with a "Clinton did it better" message.

La. gov. hires former FEMA director Witt for Katrina recovery
9/3/2005, 3:05 p.m. CT
The Associated Press

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The former head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency joined the Louisiana government Saturday to help direct the recovery from Hurricane Katrina.

James Lee Witt, who ran FEMA from 1993 to 2001, said he will stay as long as he as needed.

"He will sit at the table for me, and he will be my voice at the table," Gov. Kathleen Blanco said.

Louisiana officials are getting stretched too thin and need help, she said. "I like to hire the smartest people in the country," she added.

Witt has more than 25 years of disaster management experience. He was appointed to head FEMA in 1993, after President Clinton took office. FEMA had been strongly criticized in 1992 for its slow response to Hurricanes Andrew and Hugo; after Witt took over, it won praise for its vigorous reaction to Midwest floods and the 1994 Northridge earthquake in Los Angeles.

6. It's about time.
It's a fine contrast from Mary Landrieu begging for help on CNN and getting dissed by Anderson Cooper.

People should be taking Kanye West's comments to the airwaves everywhere.

The second the news started talking about race, Bush was there hugging black kids within hours.

Say it loud everywhere:

GEORGE BUSH DOESN'T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE!

16. Hugging Black kids?
The two girls in his photo op were more white than black, and if I remember correctly they had european accents. He didn't hug any black kids anymore than I'm reaching out to touch a neocon

19. Be careful where you go with that....
In particular when dealing with New Orleans. If you don't know the history behind New Orleans, than you might want to at least know that you will find every hue and shade there.....but they are all "African-Americans", period.

The days of differenciating people of mixed blood and dividing the race by calling some black and others octoroons, or quatroons, or mulatos died out in the late 60s.

20. I didn't see the actual footage.
Even worse. Doesn't matter though. The photo-op doesn't change the fact that he is totally without compassion for those of less economic means.

17. Yeah...Rudy has a good history with black people
:eyes:

He only race-baited New York for eight years and presided over the devolution of the NYPD into a Soweto Township enforcement squad. That's a great idea...bring in Rudy to help the majority black city of New Orleans. :eyes:
