2. I'm in St. Louis now.

I grew up in Losuisiana. My wife and I fell in love in New Orleans and were engaged and married there. My first child was conceived in New Orleans.

I'm bawling. I loved living there. I listened to a radio station that used to play all those good New Orleans songs like "Audobon Zoo" Shit - speaking of which, wonder how that place is with all those animals.

6. The zoo actually was spared some of the worst flooding..

..although with no water for so long, the consequences for the animals must be dire.

I've seen lots of pics of Uptown and there was almost no flooding from St. Charles to Tchopitoulas.

and I will never forget NO. I never NEVER thought in my wildest dreams I would see the disgrace of this country as I have seen with this disaster.

I couldn't sleep last night for thinking of the Audobon Zoo and the Aquarium on the Riverwalk. What about the animals? What has happened to them? I saw the rails that go around the city underwater. Then there's many many Mardi Gras', Pat O's, the Jazz Festival, the historic buildings. Memories, memories, memories...:cry:

I just can't believe this...

12. I read on a post yesterday (with quotes from the directors)...

that the Audubon Zoo and Aquarium (and animals) were fine so far. They did lose some flamingos during the hurricane.

15. I remember hearing that song on WWL-AM

on my first transistor radio that I got for Christmas when I was 7 years old. That radio was my window to the outside world back then, and I used to go to sleep with it set to WWL-- broadcasting live from the Roosevelt Hotel.

I'll never forget it. I hope there will be a time when I can enjoy it again. There wasn't another city like it in the world, the music, the culture, the history, the architecture the friendliness of its people. And the food, oh the food.
