1. Good advice. No reason she should let the sadists in the White House
call the shots.

2. She's been out there speaking on this disaster
I saw her on all of the shows the day the levees broke. However, she
is mostly concerned with trying to help with search and rescue, and ultimately with recuperation. I'm sure she's doing all she can.

5. I think she is being muzzled, & is afraid to jeopardize potential aid.
Each time I hear her speak, I sense a GREAT frustration.
I also sense she has specific complaints, but doesn't want to publicly air them, lest she risk retaliation (via withholding aid).

And we ALL know that the Bush Admin would DEFINITELY retaliate if she spoke negatively of them.

What a horrible position she's in.

12. I think so, too
She knows that any financial help from the administration will be tied to her silence on their negligence.

Mary Landrieu on Larry King last night seemed just as hesitant to criticize the administration response, but she did say something interesting - that now the focus was on search and rescue, and later the response could be dissected and the "truth would come out". Interesting.

7. I'm thinking that she feels that
she can't criticize the WH now cuz they are so vindictive they will screw her just to show her who is boss. But I do think that governors from other states should step up and speak for her, at the very least. So often this administration does something or says something that it takes days for it to sink it cuz it is so mind boggling. I know that is how I feel. Those ships should have been sent down when this hurricane started showing its strength cuz we knew it was going to hit somewhere down there.

9. Interesting point
If it isn't done Bush's way then its the highway I guess and she wants to remain governor although I wouldn't put it past the republicans to be critical of her on this very same issue (if shes up for reelection.)

Or no highways, military bases etc. This is how the Rove White House operates, even the slightest criticism and "no soup for you!"

14. good news! Gov Doyle (D) of WI is sending his guard to LA!
Just saw the announcement on the news.

I really hope all the Dem governors pull together and support their fellow Dem Gov in LA. There are 24 Dem governors, other than Gov Blanco.

I don't have much hope for the repubs....

11. She's "in a box".. If she criticizes the Pissant, she will be accused
of partisanship, and we all know how vindictive he is.,.

6. Its never enough is it?
She went to the Super Dome TWICE on Tuesday. She was the one who decided to evacuate the place. She was up giving a press conference at 5 am yesterday, after giving one late the night before. She's been all over the fucking place.

Here's an idea for DU: stop bitching, moaning and pointing fingers. Reach in your pocket, and donate!

NEVER! Not until someone addresses needed international aide because the local aid isnt enough for such a massive incident!

10. I think what they mean is that bitching and moaning
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 10:55 AM by Blue_Roses
about those who are obviously trying to do all they can with the resources they have now--which isn't much--is counterproductive. Blanco has done a great job speaking out on this issue and I think you need to cut her some slack. If there is a governor you need to bitching about it's Haley Barbour. What an ass!
