Any volunteer opps for the long weekend??

about volunteering, donations, food drives, etc., on our local news websites. You might be able to find some organization you can help.

2. I was thinking the same thing.

I'm going fucking crazy sitting here watching these people suffer like this. This is retarded that we just have to sit and watch. they are telling people not to come there. I'm so pissed off about all of this. I feel terrible for the people that are doing the rescue efforts and the law enforcement. They have no method of communication and no leadership. This is just ridiculous. They are taking empty busses to the superdome when they should be putting water on them and then filling them up with people. This is common sense.

is retiring effective Tommorrow, and almost left herself to volunteer.

She's a physician and can't find anything...

The reason they're saying they don't want volunteers down there is there is no infrastructure in place to support the emergency personnel, let alone the refugees, let alone civilians coming down there to help.

Random volunteers would probably make things worse. About the only thing they want are specific professionals - power, medical, tree crews, etc.
