3. Funny, I found myself thinking the same thing here in Phoenix.
Seems like there are more people driving under 65mph. But I haven't seen any formal studies.

4. Not very many.
Not even the SUV drivers. In fact they are the fastest ones.

9. I wish
I read an article last week in which someone said they'd save gas by driving their boat faster, then someone said the same thing on a local news program!

15. Unfortunately, the boat thing is true, on plane the boat is not
pushing the water out of it's way, and uses less fuel.

12. its not how fast they are driving, its those drag racers at lights
Thats what really eats up gas. Accelerating very fast will eat more gas than anything else.

13. No, but the road is actually going backward slower in my area
which gives the false impression of people driving slower.

14. Absolutely
I notice people in pickups and SUV's are driving like snails here in Tampa Florida. Gas prices are hurting people badly. Denial has worn off and people have realized that 2.50 -3.00+ a gallon gas is MUCHO PAINFUL! Expect to see less and less SUV's and consequently less unpatriotic yellow ribbons.

17. I drive
about 10 miles to town on the highway shoulder (wide) on my bike twice a week. Seems the smaller cars are going slower but the big gas guzzleing SUVs, trucks, motor homes are all going full speed. I watched a big black hummer with dark tinted windows fly past me Sunday going close to 90mph. A couple miles down the road he was on the shoulder getting a speeding ticket. He should have been going to jail and his hummer crushed for scrap. Bob
