1. It's a convoluted process

but everyone would go to the local school gym in their
precinct. The divide up into groups sitting at different
tables based on what candidates you supported.

People for the different candidates would act as whips
and go around trying to convince the others to join
them. Then a head count would be taken and people
would move around to different tables as their candidates
got knocked out.

At some point delegates would be selected based on the
number of people supporting them.

This was how it looked to me caucusing at 16 for Gary
Hart in 1984.

I am sure their is a lot more to it and I moved away
before the next caucus but it was a very engaging process.
