If I hear one more World War II analogy to justify the Iraq War...
I'm going to just blow my stack. The mantra includes some or all of the following talking points:

Saddam was Hitler, and we had to stop him right now to save the world. Democrats are the appeasers and Bush is a stand in for Winston Churchill. Corporate profiteering in Iraq is somehow analogous to rebuilding of Japan and Germany. Because dissent was not allowed in WWII, well, we just can't have any dissent now. We suffered setbacks in WWII and prevailed, so the same thing will happen in the Iraq War.

Why can't the apologists for this war simply justify it on its own terms? Why do they need to borrow moral authority from a war that has been over for 60 years to justify the Iraq War?

1. People who make the comparison are HOPELESSLY ignorant
A simple straightforward comparison of the military power of the two countries that could be done by a second grader will show how dimwitted such an argument is

4. The only thing Monkey Boy has in common with Churchill is
his excessive alcohol consumption. Period.

Except that Churchill could handle it.

3. They are desecrating the memory
of all those who sacrificed all over the world in that war. My mother and father being of the 1940s/50s generation I heard many stories. Shame on anyone who can even include them in the same paragraph.

7. How about the Vietnam analogy? I get this from freepers...
"We lost 56,000 troops in Vietnam. We've only lost xxx troops in Iraq."

WTF? Is there a quota that I'm not aware of??

Amazing logic.
