Has anybody ever seen a member of Al Qaeda in person?

Seriously, how come we only see these guys on grainy video tape once every six months? The whole Al Qaeda thing reads like a script from a bad James Bond movie. This entire episode fits right into the stated Neoconservative agenda of perpetual warfare. I for one am skeptical. When was the last time you heard a republican cry out for the head of Osama Bin Laden? Maybe right after 9/11, but you really haven't. They aren't waging war against Al Qaeda, they are waging war against the democrats and the American citizenry along with the rest of the world. Where is the outrage that our troops are being blown up like so much cannon fodder? There isn't any, Americans are fat and happy. We do live in a state of media sponsored perpetual fear, but most people just don't care about what is going on in Iraq or the rest of the world. It is this indifference that has allowed Bush and his corporatist cabal to take over and rape and pillage this country and the world. I have seen the enemy and it is George W. Bush.

8. fyi - Op Northwoods was drafted in '62 - not tinfoil
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Northwoods

Operation Northwoods was a document drafted in 1962 by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and presented to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara (and possibly President John F. Kennedy himself) on March 13, 1962. Often claimed to be an unfounded conspiracy theory, the document was declassified in recent years by the Freedom of Information Act, thereby proving to be a verified conspiracy theory and (as such) no longer a conspiracy theory at all.

Content
The document was drafted with the intent of getting public support for an invasion of Cuba. The Joint Chiefs of Staff argued that the US population would only support military intervention in Cuba in the event of provocative, aggressive action by the island nation against American soldiers, American civilians or Cuban refugees and Cubans in exile. The document frequently refers to staging fake attacks with fake victims, but in other cases does not specify whether the attacks should be fake or real, and for some recommended attacks explicitly notes that they could be real. Had Operation Northwoods been carried out, it would likely have required the coordinative efforts of the Central Intelligence Agency, which is mentioned several times.

Some of the recommendations of Operation Northwoods proposed by the Joint Chiefs were:
  • Using the potential death of astronaut John Glenn during the first attempt to put an American into orbit as a false pretext for war with Cuba.
  • Start false rumors about Cuba by using clandestine radios.
  • Stage mock attacks, sabotages and riots and blame it on Cuban forces
  • Sink an American ship at the Guantanamo Bay American military base - reminiscent of the USS Maine incident at Havana in 1898, which started the Spanish-American War - or destroy American aircraft and blame it on Cuban forces. (The document refers to unmanned drones, fake funerals etc.)
  • "Harassment of civil air, attacks on surface shipping and destruction of US military drone aircraft by MIG type planes would be useful as complementary actions."
  • Destroy a fake commercial aircraft supposedly full of "college students off on a holiday" (really an unmanned drone)
  • Stage a "terror campaign", including the "real or simulated" sinking of Cuban refugees:
"We could develop a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington. The terror campaign could be pointed at Cuban refugees seeking haven in the United States. We could sink a boatload of Cubans enroute to Florida (real or simulated). We could foster attempts on lives of Cuban refugees in the United States even to the extent of wounding in instances to be widely publicized."

Reaction
It has been reported that John F. Kennedy personally rejected the proposal, but no official record of this exists. What is known for certain is that Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara examined and rejected the proposal, and that the President removed General Lyman Lemnitzer as Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff shortly afterward. The continuing press against Cuba by internal elements of the U.S. military and intelligence community (the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion, etc.) prompted President John F. Kennedy to attempt to rein in burgeoning hardline anti-Communist sentiment that was intent on proactive, aggressive action against Communism around the globe. After the Bay of Pigs disaster, John F. Kennedy fired then CIA director Allen W. Dulles, Deputy Director Charles P. Cabell and Deputy Director Richard Bissell and turned his attention towards Vietnam.

2. Ah. Al-Qaeda is an illusion?
Good luck with that.

I've never seen Japan in person, but I'm pretty sure it exists.

Oh, and America's not fat, it's big boned.

4. Sure...
The guy was sitting in a big black leather chair and had a white angora cat on his lap. I'm pretty sure he was wearing a monocle, too.

Oh, wait. That WAS a Bond movie.

5. I know what you mean
the thing that has always bothered me is that I live near Dearborn Michigan. Dearborn, has the largest Arab/Muslim population outside of the middle east. Yet there have been no terrorist attacks in Michigan.

Using the admins logic, one would think that the city of Detroit would have been surrounded and annihilated years ago. Why has there not been any attacks? How does Michigan keep their Arabs happy?

7. If I said yes to that question
nobody would believe me. But I swear to whatever god it matters to I did see a "supposed" Al Quida person before. It was 3 weeks before 9/11, I was shopping at the Publix in Delray Beach FL and I was in the express lane. Life was boring and I was single and hey I didn't get out much OK? But while I was being checked out there was a very nice looking, well dressed gentleman of mideastern decent standing directly behind me, and being the flirtous person that I am when I'm feeling it you know, I tried to give this guy the "I'm intersted are you" look woman give sometimes.

The thing that stuck in my mind that day and why I never forgot this guy was because he pissed me off. The guy didn't have any life in his eyes, it was the weirdest thing. He just appeared to be fixed on doing exactly what he was doing, kind of like robotic if you really want to know, and I remember walking out of Publix saying under my breath "you asshole".

Four weeks later I am sitting in my cottage watching the coverage of 9/11 and they flash the guys picture on the TV as being one of the suspected terrorist of the 9/11 plane, his name was Muhommad Adda. My mouth dropped to the floor and I just sat there and said, "Shit, oh my god, I was trying to pick that guy up less the a month ago". I also kept thinking that nobody is ever going to believe this because I have no proof. But I did go back and read about the time line to the terrorists supposed movements before 9/11. Lo and behold, he was in Delray Beach along with 5 of the other ones that died in the planes. Scared the living crap out of me, I was originally from the midwest and I made plans to move back up here shortly after that. Needless to say I have been in the heartland since and don't think that I will ever again attempt to flirt with another guy I see in the express lane, as long as I live.

15. Coiming from Toronto to Washington DC one week before 9-11
as I was getting on the plane and the stewardess waqs fiddling with my paperwork, I was looking around at my fellow passengers-to-be and my eyes landed on this middle eastern man and I smiled and nodded, as people are tend to do, and this guy returned the most evil look with his eyes, it chilled meto the bone. It was like he had no soul...just emptiness and evil. Freaked me out a little , as I thought, "omg, now we are flying with terrorists".
I had no reason to think that, but was glad when I landed safely in DC. I mentioned it all to my boyfriend on landing.
Then when the pictures of the 9-11 terrorists were published, I was chilled when I saw the pictures of Ziad Samir Jarrah...
Was he my soulless man on the plane? Sure looked like him.

Fidel Castro used to hang out there too, but he missed black beans and rice, so he went back to Havana.

10. Al Qaeda was funded by the CIA, Saudis and the Pakistani ISI
- it was the data base for the Mujahedeen in Afganistan fighting the Soviets, but then the Cold War ended - idle hands make the devils work. Check out the interview with whistle blower Indira Singh, it will send chills up your spine. And lets not forget that Bin Laden's Brother was Bush's business partner, and Georgie Senior was Director of the CIA - a postion that under the law should have disqualified him from becoming VP, but the rules were bent.

I keep looking for someone with I am a terrorist painted on their forhead but I haven't seen that yet. I actually haven't seen anyone in our government in person except John Kerry so we may not actually have a government or politicians as far as my direct knowledge.
