For the first time it is clear...crystal clear
I saw it mentioned yesterday, in fact, I had posted it and withdrew the statement.
But I feel that the scenario that is playing out IS something that was begun long ago.
These people aren't even pretending to hide their hubris anymore.
Rules are out the window. They don't want to show us something? No problem. New rule...we ain't going to show you.
You wanna complain? Who ya gonna complain to?
We OWN the voting machines, we OWN the software, we OWN the people.
Things will never be the same again. Never.
I'm not even so sure that all the scandals coming to the surface is even an accident...but more of a slap in the face...because THEY can.
THEY want us to see their unmitigated and unchecked power.
THEY want a reason to shoot us or to haul us off to Gitmo. THEY need some examples.
It is officially "us vs. them".
I'd like to believe that good guy always wins, but every day I wake up and there is more.
I just don't know where we are headed...but one thing for certain, it is dark.

What a mind fuck those were. A word of advice to anyone who hasn't heard them yet: don't listen to them before going to bed.

13. I'm not feeling so much terrified as completely, utterly impotent.
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 10:38 AM by KzooDem
Part of you is forced to say "this can't possibly be true"; "she's missing some facts"; "there's no way this could happen".

Then the other part kicks in and slaps the part of you trying to rationalize what you just heard squarely and painfully across the face.

And then it starts connecting the dots. It all begins to make a little more sense.

So, you say, if it is true...even just a little bit....then we have to fight to reclaim our country, our democracy, our government.

And then you realize how silly that notion is. How can we defeat something so HUGE? At least without getting crushed.

This morning I find myself struggling with saying "Okay...if even a PORTION of this is true, we're toast. What's the point of even trying to make things right. Focus on my immediate life and my immediate needs, do what I need to do for myself. Screw everyone else because we're in the same boat and we're all going to eventually drown."

My grandparents emigrated here from France in 1939. My grandfather was a rabbi and also taught in Paris. He saw what was coming and got his family out before the noose of Hitler was tightened around their's and Europe's necks. This lesson is not lost on me, especially when my mother, who experienced this as a young adult, draws comparisons between what was happening then and what is happening now. But, fleeing to other countries woudl be futile, according to Singh. That's how wide this net is apparently cast.

Is it all true? Are bits and pieces true? I don't know. My only prayer this morning is "Please let Indira Singh be wrong."

28. It's true
but the REALLY mind-blowing thing (to me) is that all of what she spoke about in that lengthy transcript is just one small sliver -- a pie wedge -- of the whole picture.

And yes, it's global.

What I've said before, and I'll repeat it again is that we lost control when they got away with Kennedy's assassination (and we let that happen, but se were SO traumatized as a nation!), and the last time we REALLY had a chance to stop them (them = Bush Crime Family or some people prefer Bush Family Evil Empire and all their friends and allies) was Iran-Contra. It's all been downhill since then.

Look-- they got away not with the theft of ONE national election, but TWO. And as some really smart DUer said (whose name I wish I'd noted at the time): you don't steal an election to do good, do ya now?

We're so fucked.

And we have been for years.

And some people wonder why SOME of us are SO hyper-critical of those oafs and dingbats, cowards and simpering idjits supposedly "on our side" in Washington? :grr: Makes me mad just to THINK about their inaction -- and worse than that, their unwillingness to listen -- in the face of this crushing fascism descending over us.

And SOME people wonder why SOME of us are so energetically anti-DLC? You don't fight fascism by catering or caving to it! That's why.

I haven't lost hope, exactly, but at the same time my "hope" isn't centered in "the real world." I see nothing but real, honest-to-God miracles changing this particular set of circumstances. And miracles have happened in my lifetime: the Berlin Wall coming down was a miracle, and so was Mandela's release. But I see nothing in the normal, expected trajectory from this point that would lead to that, which is why I'd call what must happen for us not to devolve into a high-tech, fascist feudalist neo-Dark Ages, "miracles."

It's a game of a bully taunting a much weaker kid.
When the weaker kid finally throws a punch...the bully runs back to his mama crying.
Then everyone has sympathy for the bully again.
It's a totally upside down world.

21. Not just bullying; it's an abusive stranger dressed as a family member
I agree with your analogy, but really,

It's psychological ABUSE right along with being taunted or threatened. And the denial of abuse makes the abused thing there's something wrong with THEM.

It's constitutional ABUSE.

It's and ABUSE of TRUST and TRUTH.

It's religious ABUSE (except of the right-wing "Christian" variety).

and

It's an ABUSE of power - a power that could be improving and enhancing life around the world, but that is being used for disruption and destruction of the physical, economic, judicial, educational, and political life of decent and innocent people all over this world.

To call these people "mafia dons" would only scratch the surface of their corruption and utter contempt for humanity.

God help us to try and turn all of this rightside up again.

It's true about hitting rock bottom before getting back into the light - I have to keep believing that this shall pass and a new enlightenment can occur.

What boggles my mind the most is that so many people seem so blind to how evil and dark and corrupt it all is...But once theie eyes are finally opened things WILL change.

I have to believe that. I will not give up.

Guessing what might happen next is only useful if it energizes action - or, at least, useful emotional energy. What we expect to happen has a big influence on what does happen.

25. Exactly - if we give up, or 'resign' ourselves to defeat,
then there is ZERO chance of beating it.

If some of us try to fight it, we have at least a slim chance. And that's enough to keep me fighting.

Never Give Up.

but we can certainly do what we can to help the rest of the world...keep forwarding the messages with all the horrible things the neocons/theocrats do, some of it they get through their own media, some they don't, but almost all of it affects them too. Give to organizations that help children, the most vulnerable in this Hell on Earth brought on by BushCo...or how about women's reproductive rights worldwide, that's a good cause to fight for...perhaps the democracies that are under attack from BushCo because they happen to be socialist, they can use our help...already the Latin Americans appear to be showing some backbone in standing up to BushCo...there is still a lot we can do to help the world, if not the U.S. of Amnesia

27. Halliburton is just one example of this. It's there for all to see.
War profiteering is criminal, and Halliburton has deep and very visible ties to the administration. Yet the company gets contract after contract, and its stock is soaring (proving that, once again, war *is* good for big business).

At any other time in history, the American people would never have stood for this kind of shit.

But now? The administration does not make the slightest effort to keep Halliburton's fattening-up under wraps. And does anyone care? Except on DU and some of the left blogs, apparently not.

34. Stop this defeatist talk, NOW!!!
We can do stuff. We can get the message out to as many people as possible.

The only reason they have been able to do as much as they have done, is that they have gone unnoticed. We need to find out exactly who they are and what their objectives are.

We need to avoid concepts like "they are a satanic cult trying to take over the world...". (Sorry spiritual DUers, but this type of thing is never going to be accepted by most people even if true).

We need to shine a clear logical very bright light on everything they do so that they are exposed and stopped from acting as freely as they have been doing. And the truthfulness and accuracy of our case cannot be denied.

We are wrong to think like the bullied child that we are alone. We are not. Many, many people suspect what we think we know! They just need evidence and lots of it, so when one piece is swept under the carpet, there is more, and more...

The good guys always win, because the good guys NEVER give up!
