Communists Against the Military
By Ben Johnson
FrontPageMagazine.com | July 14, 2005

A coalition of far-Left organizations that includes avowed “revolutionary communists,” Islamists, marriage-abolitionists, and cop-killer advocates has launched a crusade against the U.S. military – and San Francisco school children could get caught in the crossfire. An organization known as “College Not Combat” seeks to place a resolution before Bay City voters on the November ballot, declaring “that the people of San Francisco oppose U.S. military recruiters using public school, college and university facilities to recruit young people into the armed forces.” The non-binding measure would encourage the city’s high schools to deny military recruiters access to their student directories, from which recruiters attempt to find new volunteers. Such an action, undertaken in the name of “the children,” would constitute a violation of section 9528 of the “No Child Left Behind” Act and could end up denying the offending schools access to government funds.

The group submitted petitions containing more than15,000 signatures to the Department of Elections on Monday, nearly 5,000 more than needed. If enough signatures are validated, the measure will be placed before voters. In part, the draft declares:

a de facto “economic draft” forces tens of thousands of low and middle-income students to join the military in order to get money to go to college or get job or technical training…

the Federal government shows no sign of ending the occupation of Iraq or bringing the troops safely home and, in fact, is threatening military action against other nations...

San Francisco should oppose the military’s “economic draft” by investigating means by which to fund and grant scholarships for college and job training to low-income students so they are not economically compelled to join the military!

big snip....lists all of the peace organizations, local union chapters, teacher organizations, and then this:

# Louisiana Activist Network – A radical “antiwar” organization that reproduces a quotation from revolutionary Emma Goldman on its frontpage and links to Lyndon LaRouche’s political organization on its “friends” page.

((You guys have got to go read this article...it is amazing....and LAN is honored to be included in such good company!))

1. from the comments section
Loved this comment...what if he substituted "die" for "serve" in his post?

Subject: Refusing to let your kids serve???
Comment: Below I read that somebody here--Viper?--would refuse to let his kids serve in the military..! JEEZ! If I had a son and he came up tome and said he was joining up, I'D BE THE PROUDEST PARENT ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH! Do you have any idea the character it takes to serve your country, defend it, bring freedom to others? I can't tell you how much I admire the young people who make that choice. In America, nobody HAS to join the armed services; to enlist voluntarily is the bravest thing I know.

I know the realities of war--our family has served every branch except the Air Force and Coast Guard--and my Aunt's only child has his name on the wall in D.C. We were raised to think military service was the most honorable thing you could do... How can you think of it any other way?

Comment: The conservatives are well versed in the ways and means of military matters, the Left are NOT !
Reading between the lines, I don't think these poor souls realize who they're P'ing O. !
If a civil war breaks out in this country, I don't think the left realizes just how unprepared they are, maybe they think the laws that WILL break down in a civil war, WILL PROTECT THEM, I'd like to see who they'll run to, to protect them from the mean nasty conservatives ( who ARE armed to the teeth )!
Maybe they need to concentrate on getting rid of the 2nd amend. B$ making us so MAD, we NEED to go to WAR with them !
