Nine Days Later, White House Press Corps Discovers the Rove-Plame Story

The White House Press Corps came roaring back today, discovering the "Is Karl Rove Guilty of Leaking a CIA Operative's Name" story -- just nine days after most other media began reporting it.

And -- Whoa, Nelly! -- did they batter McClellan, early and often, with questions. A whopping 33 questions, including ones in which the press corrected McClellan spin (huzzah!), pointed out contradictions in McClellan statements (huzzah!), and openly suggested that McClellan was snowing them in saying he "couldn't" comment (huzzah!).

Unfortunately, McClellan offered a lot of variations of "I can't answer that" and "I've already said I can't answer that." Clearly, it was frustrating to the press corps.

But cheers nonetheless to these reporters for finally having the gumption to ask about the topic, and get McClellan on the record -- albeit a few days later than some would want. If only they were always this relentless in their pursuit for the truth.

1. I'm looking for the old Scotty to "want to spend more time with his

family" soon. Scotty doesn't seem like the type who can take the badgering of a good WH Press Corps. I bentcha tonight he's telling his friends he's about had it.

2. I think Scotty might have a nightmare when he goes to bed tonight.

As he drifts off to the land of Nod he'll start dreaming he is at a White House press conference and as he looks out from the podium he sees to his alarm a veritable sea of Helen Thomases looking back at him. As the beads of sweat start to form and drip from his forehead, ever more desperately he searches among the faces for one of the usual familiar sycophantic whores and/or Jeff Gannon who can be relied on to lob a softball or two to help him out of a jam, but alas to his horror he sees only all Helen Thomas lookalikes boldly staring back and shouting out loud a never ending stream of embarrassing questions. It's at this point that he mercifully awakes and finds himself sitting bolt upright in bed with frantic screams of terror on his lips.

3. Scotty knows too much now

He can't get away with non answers for much longer. While hardly a loose cannon, chances are good he could blab something inadvertantly that would sink junior or darth cheney. I think he'll be retiring soon.
