Andy's murder should be the final blow against them
Andy's murder should be the final blow against this house of cards built on a foundation of lies.

This is the story of a movement whose modus operandi is deception. Everything they produce is some deception to further their political goals. It represents good intentions murdered by evil intentions with a "win-at-any-cost" mentality.

These are people that are weak inside - they find comfort in accepting some spoon fed lie that holds their fractured reality together. When they don't get enough lies from Fox news, they band together in little hobby groups to generate more self deception to find solace in. They will create and consume anything to help the turn from the facts.

*

The site scamdy.com, is a microcosm of the Bush movement - a mountain of lies responsible for murder. Whether its fabricated reports of WMDs to false reports to paypal, the end result is the same = MURDER. How many times are will; we they take us down this road of deception that end in death?

The latest round of atrocious statements from the fascist cheerleaders on Fox further exemplifies the depravity of the vicious right. The mask is off - they support terrorism. The charade of having some kind of moral purpose is over.

Now Fred Grady is trying to find peace in the lie that "Andy chose to die". Hey coward, I've got news for you - everyone knows that you are just searching to hide from responsibility from what you have done.

Internal cavity diagnosis is not the most exact science. My best friend from high school was recently diagnoses with a kidney tumor on the basis of x-rays. When he got a more detailed evaluation, it turned out it was the adrenal gland that sits on top of the kidney. This is almost the exact same type of scenario as Andy's diagnosis. Sometimes they can't distinguish exactly what a spot is on an xray until they do other more detailed tests.

Fred Grady, you know you've committed an unforgivable sin in your actions and you are scrubbing like crazy trying to get that blood off your hands, but you never will.

The right wing movement is sick and diseased. The one trick of this pony is to consume lies to feed their fantasies. They are directly responsible for interfering with this mans surgery. The organizations they have created to cook up the lies leading to andy's death far predate scamdy.com. The site is just an encapsulation of their work to kill a political opponent. It's like they've videotaped themselves committing the crime. Every lie they generated for the purpose of attacking Andy is all right there on the website.

*

Andy's memory would be well served if his story could be used for the constructive purpose of finally exposing this disease that has afflicted our nation and our values system. He worked hard to this end and his story will carry on that work to its successful conclusion.

1. "Doomed and determined to destroy all the gentle"
That's what they are, with their bully's lies.

"Andy chose to die." Jesus Christ. Even on the day he died, he said "I WANT TO LIVE."

Hattie Carroll was a maid of the kitchen.
She was fifty-one years old and gave birth to ten children
Who carried the dishes and took out the garbage
And never sat once at the head of the table
And didn't even talk to the people at the table
Who just cleaned up all the food from the table
And emptied the ashtrays on a whole other level,
Got killed by a blow, lay slain by a cane
That sailed through the air and came down through the room,
Doomed and determined to destroy all the gentle.
And she never done nothing to William Zanzinger.

- Bob Dylan, "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll"

9. I believe he's the webmaster of scamdy.com
which disputed whether or not Andy was really sick and was scamming people for the money that was raised on his behalf.

Rather like Schiavo, and Kerry's 180, the truth has not stopped this person. He apparently is searching wildly for a way to still be right.

4. So much for the Culture of Life, eh?
Andy was clearly too coherent to live, if he'd suffered a larger stroke you think they'd have locked arms around the hospital and put tape over their mouths?

Idiots. Assholes. Every last one of them.

17. Whoa-you said it!
Andy was someone who wanted to live so badly that his friends did everything in their power to make that happen and tragically he still died. He made a difference and had an impact on this world. Yet somehow to these twisted freeper minds Terri Schiavo who no longer had a functioning brain and unwanted fetuses are more worthy than a man who did such good and was loved by so many and admired from afar from people who didn't even know him?!

That is what is so f*cked up about this and just flat out SICK SICK SICK! :puke:

7. I have to say something here...
I am mourning Andy's death as much as everyone else here.

Yet I find the concept that the freepers "murdered" Andy to be a distortion, WAY over the top and frankly, offensive.

I am sorry, I don't mean to offend, flame or incite a flame word. It's just that no matter how I look at it, I can't see that the "murdered" Andy and the use of that word seems to me to be as irrational a distortion as what one find at FR every day - as as such, not worthy of serious consideration.

Yes, what the freepers did to Andy was despicable and cause for outrage.

Their actions caused Andy a delay in his treatment and much heartache.

BUT... there is no way of finding causation between their actions and Andy contracting an infection that led to his death. There just is no way of knowing, as I see it, that the delay in treatment created Andy's infection and death. There is no way of knowing absolutely that had Andy's surgery been two weeks prior to when it actually was performed, that he would not still have contracted the infection and died. That _may_ have been the case - and it may not have been. There just is no way of knowing.

Hold the freepers accountable for the damage they did, yes indeed. But to blame the freepers for Andy's death is stepping over a line, in my opinion, that degrades us all.

Maybe you know something that I don't know. All I know about Andy's situation is what I've read here. Perhaps there is more to the story of his contracting an infection than I know. But what I do know is that there is no way of saying for sure that the delay in treatment caused his death. It may have. But there is no way of saying that for sure.

10. I believe people are referring to them as "murderers" because
they caused a delay in treatment. Unfortunately, pancreatic cancer MUST be treated IMMEDIATELY and aggressively because there is only a 5% survival rate. By delaying his treatment, there is a perception of causality -- he was further weakened, and thus less able to fight the infection that eventually killed him.

They are "murderers" really only by their working so hard to prevent him from getting the help he needed, which is most likely not an actionable crime. It wasn't like they actually held a gun to his head, and pulled the trigger; rather, they just displayed a complete lack of respect for a fellow human being, and delayed him getting necessary medical care.

I believe in poetic justice. Everything else I want to type is not very nice. I hope they suffer A LOT.

13. Remind me of the history
What did they do that delayed treatment. I thought it was the hospital not being able to find the check, so that they had to reschedule the surgery. Am I misremembering?

15. My understanding was that they raised such doubts about the
validity of Andy's sickness that PayPal pulled out and that resulted in a time problem until they were able to get the check to JH. And then the check was somehow misplaced by the hospital but perhaps that too was a matter of JH waiting to verify. This is how I remember it, but my mind is like Swiss cheese so don't quote me.

18. Yet they hold vigils for a brain dead blind woman.
They sure have their priorities in order.

I do agree it's a stretch to call them murderers, but they are certainly not people who value human life.

16. You are correct
Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 04:12 PM by housewolf
I only know what I have read hear and from Ben Burch on the site he set up for Andy - I've followed Andy's story all year and contributed to his surgery, and have been as appalled as everyone here by the actions of the freepers. I know that he had cancer, that he went home to Seattle and seemed to be improving then was hospitalized with an infection, had a slight stroke that impaired his vision, they couldn't get a handle on the infection and he died. I don't know that the actual cause of death was the infection - you are correct, I made the assumption that his actual cause of death was related to the infection. The Seattle article says that he died after a series of strokes. I don't question the fact that he died as an effect of his cancer, however that actual cause of death (as reported on his death certificate) reads.

My heart is aching, too, because of all the suffering he endured and his death. I, too, have been crying since Thursday night over him.

I don't seek revenge. I will try my best to not make false accusations or speak of what I don't know. I do want justice and I feel an obligation to Andy and to the future victims of this hate and evil to stop these evil people.

They hate us for our love, they envy our love and our ability to give for the sake of giving, with no ulterior motives, seeking no rewards. They fear what we did, our power to unite to help someone in crisis, our remarkable grassroots efforts.

I will do my darnedest to not allow them to victimize another as they did our Andy. That is not seeking revenge, that is seeking justice and honoring my friend.

19. "Murder" is a legal term and COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE here
I agree with your reaction: what the scum did was despicable and almost certainly criminal--but it was not 'murder' and people should avoid that kind of baseless hyperbole.
