Day of the Clown
That infamous day in December 2000 when the Supreme Court of the U.S. appointed G. W. Bush President of the U.S. will, I feel certain, be remembered as the day the Circus began, coupling the railcars, loading the animals and embarking upon their next destination--Washington D.C., the seat of government of our country. It was a grand old time for the Grand Old Party--jubilation reigned. The neocons, behind closed doors, were celebrating how they fooled the people of America. They were having such fun, those clowns.

When the major Clown took office in 2001 the tents were folded after the real Clown emerged. But he was no longer funny. Without batting an eyelash the Clown immediately began paying back his rich contributors by giving them a tax cut. This country was beginning to go downhill economically, but that didn't matter. As president of the rich and powerful he knew where his loyalties lay. And it was not mainstream America. He is breaking the bank where the taxpayers deposit their tax dollars, but he doesn't give a receipt--only IOUs which will never be honored. The only thing I can admire about this Clown is the swiftness with which he implemented the plan.

But this Clown wasn't through! It was not enough to break this country. He had to preemptively invade another country who posed no immediate threat to us. After going in to Afghanistan, killing Taliban, capturing some Al Queda, not to mention many innocent Afghanis, he abandoned that country. He forgot about Osama bin Laden--after all, he is a Saudi. No, this Clown needed oil for his rich buddies and fellow theives. Let's go into Iraq, he said. We can make the people believe Sadamm Hussein is in cahoots with Al Queda and bin Laden. The people will believe anything I tell them. And, for once, he was correct. Most of the people in this country bought it. After all, our POTUS wouldn't lie to us, now would he. But lie he did and his trusty followers in the administration backed him, all the time knowing it was a lie. When did we ever have such an administration that was in lockstep by lying to the American people? Forget Richard Nixon, he was second string compared to this cabal.

Well, this Clown has made this country a laughing stock for the entire world. Years of building good relations with other countries went down the drain like Liquid Plumber. Everyone knows now there were no WMD. No, but there is a country devastated by this Clown and his cronies--Iraq. We have no friends left to help us stabilize that country because they were "either with us or against us." If, indeed, Sadamm is gone that is great. But at what cost to the Iraqis and our military who die every day. We have not gone into a quagmire. That is too tame a word. I consider it more like "the bottomless pit of hell."

But we hear daily how well the situation is in Iraq. In a way that is right. The Clown's rich buddies are getting richer off our tax dollars. Halliburton, Brown & Root, Bechtel, etc. Oh, the compassion! And just think all we are doing for the Iraqis. Schools, power, clean water. Never mind they are afraid to go out of their houses at night because of the violence. Maybe we should all go there for our power, schools, and clean water. After all our schools are crumbling, our water dirty and we have blackouts.

This country is hurting, badly. There is no recovery in sight. And the Clown who would be king is, in the long run, just another clown.
