More evidence of a turning tide?
My 81-year-old dad (who has started listening to hate radio, because it's all that's on in our area late at night) had argued with me a few months ago when I said that this administration and its Republican buddies in Congress weren't supporting our veterans. "I think you're exaggerating again. If that were a real problem, I would have read about that in Legion Magazine - if it affects veterans, they're on top of it, and they're pretty non-partisan."

Well, who am I to argue with Legion Magazine????

Yesterday, we were discussing the use of mercenaries and whether Bush would bring back the draft. "Well, before they bring back the draft, they should start treating we veterans better."

Excuse me? A few months ago, didn't you say that you hadn't heard anything about veterans benefits being cut?

Well, according to my Dad, now even Legion Magazine is joining the fray....

1. There was a time the Legion took a different path in the 1930's.
They listened to America's greatest hero General Smedly Butler who delivered "Why war is a racket". Butler was non partisan when he stopped a coup against FDR against those who wanted to create an army from the Legion. He was willing to create a counter coup against the BFEE of his day.
