"Into the Buzzsaw" question.
Here http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1591022304/qid=1119145563/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/103-9549350-7767823 is a relatively new edition (Oct 2004) of "Into the Buzzsaw". I had checked the original out from the library when I first read it. Looking to purchase a copy, I noticed this line from the Publisher Review section: "For this edition, three of the original essays were removed and four new ones added. Many others have been updated, making the book even more pertinent and timely...

So my question is: which ones were deleted? Anyone know? No amount of googling has led me to an answer.

I am deathly afraid that one of the removed essays is the late ("suicided") Gary Webb's indictment of the CIA cocaine racket. Someone please tell me I'm wrong?

a kick for you as I'm intrigued, especially as this book can't come out in the UK because of Greg Palast's piece about Bush Sr & Barrick Gold (I've said too much already!)

on edit -- well I'm wrong, I can buy the new edition in the UK & it's still got Greg Palast's essay so f-knows what's going on there.

FYI:

"A new chapter on Iraq by investigative reporter Charlotte Dennett presents a riveting angle on the subject that no one in the press has dared to examine--until now. Pulitzer nominee John Kelly writes a troubling update on recent deadly CIA operations carried out as part of the War on Terrorism. Jane Akre's update on the precedent-setting outcome of her legal fight with Fox News over her investigation of Monsanto's bovine growth hormone will unsettle, if not anger, journalists and the general public alike. Kristina Borjesson's new introduction examines how issues of censorship have, since the 9/11 tragedy and Into the Buzzsaw's initial release, become front-page news on an almost daily basis. Indeed, many journalists and increasing numbers of the general public view the control, suppression, manipulation, and distortion of information in news to have reached a crisis level--to the point of posing a significant threat to a free American society.

& the Gary Webb article is still there.

7. thanks!
and got your PM.

Of all the books out there that expose and indict the corporo-fascist takeover of the US, I still think this one's the best.
