over it because I refuse to watch Mel Gibson movies or support ANYTHING the man does. His movie, "The Passion of the Christ" was the last straw for me. I sat here thinking about how Mel Gibson helped to destroy our country! He gave more fodder to the religious RW wacko nut jobs to rally their RW religious nut job base and it INFURIATES me. Is Mel Gibson even a US citizen, I asked myself ;)? I Googled to look for that info and instead I came across how anti-Semitic his father is and Mel refuses to refute anything his dad said, but does acknowledge the Holocaust did happen, but he also "minimizes" the deaths by stating that many people died in the war. :grr:. I completely missed this story when the bru-ha-ha began over his movie. Have any of you heard about his Nazi father? Mel Gibson is forever on my blackball list. Never will he get a dime of my money. Gibson was born in the US, BTW. I thought he was Australian.
Some religious RW wacko nut job wants Gibson to run for prez! See below snips. He ALSO gave his smarmy 2 cents on the Terri Schiavo case. See below.
Add Gibson to your blacklist! He's a dangerous religious RW wacko nut job with a lot of clout and $$$$$$. IMCPO Hurt him where it counts! IN HIS POCKETBOOK.
Mel Gibson's Holocaust Problem
by Dr. Rafael Medoff
Hutton Gibson, the father of actor Mel Gibson, is lying about the Holocaust again. And now it turns out that Mel, too, has some disturbing views on the subject.
The elder Gibson told the New York Times last year that the annihilation of six million Jews must be a hoax, since it would have taken too long for the Germans to cremate that many bodies. In an interview with a New York radio show this week, Gibson said the Germans did not have enough gas to murder that many people. He added that many European Jews who were reportedly murdered by the Nazis in fact "fled to countries like Australia and the United States."
Ordinarily such nonsense does not deserve to be dignified with a response. But because of the raging controversy over Mel Gibson's forthcoming movie, "The Passion of the Christ," his father's statements are gaining international attention. <snip>
<snip>But Mel Gibson's Holocaust problem extends far beyond his father's lunatic-fringe opinions. In an interview in the forthcoming March issue of Reader's Digest, Gibson had this to say about his father: "My dad taught me my faith and I believe what he taught me. The man never lied to me in his life" --a curious remark, considering his father's many lies about the Holocaust. Asked by the interviewer if he believed the Holocaust had happened, the actor replied: "Yes, of course. Atrocities happen. War is horrible. World War Two killed tens of millions of people. Some of them were Jews in concentration camps."
Mel Gibson may not have been denying the Holocaust, but he was certainly distorting and minimizing it. Instead of acknowledging that the Nazis carried out a deliberate strategy of genocide, he reduced the Jewish victims to the same kind of accidental and random casualties that take place in every war. In his view, the Jews were only "some" of the many people who died in World War Two. <snip>
http://www.wymaninstitute.org/articles/2004-02-gibson.phpFrom Mel's dad:
"It's all - maybe not all fiction - but most of it is," he said, adding that the gas chambers and crematoria at camps like Auschwitz would not have been capable of exterminating so many people.
"Do you know what it takes to get rid of a dead body? To cremate it?" he said. "It takes a litre of petrol and 20 minutes. Now, six million of them? They (the Germans) did not have the gas to do it. That's why they lost the war."
Gibson's father caused a furore last year when he made similar remarks in a New York Times article.
In a television interview with Diane Sawyer this week, Mel Gibson accused the Times of taking advantage of his father, and he warned Sawyer against broaching the subject again<snip>

I know, I know...the link/article is from WND, but STILL...the guy has bought domain names for Gibson 2008. :scared:

Inspired by Mel Gibson's strong stand against the dehydration death of Terri Schiavo, an Oregon businessman has begun a campaign to see the "Passion" director run for president as a Republican in 2008, saying he's the only potential candidate who has the star power and charisma needed to keep Democrat Hillary Clinton out of the White House. <snip>
<snip>Gibson was outspoken last week on the eve of Schiavo's death, calling it "a prolonged and cruel execution."
"It's just completely wrong to deprive this poor woman of food and water," he told radio talk-show host Sean Hannity. Brain-injured 15 years ago, Schiavo died 13 days after her feeding tube was removed by court order.
Without naming names, Gibson implicated the Bushes for not doing more to save Schiavo:
"It's nothing more than state-sanctioned murder. All the big guys, they all have their hands tied up by some tinhorn judge down there. Come on, when they want to whip a judge, they got no problem doing that. Look what they did to
in a heartbeat. So they can do it if they want. They just don't want to."<snip>
