I really don't believe my country is fascist and take great offense to that video. I am very proud to be an American even during times like this. I don't have to agree with my government at all and I can say it, that is one of the rights granted to me by the constitution. Things like this don't help the democratic cause in any way.

15. Was there anything specific in the video that you don't think is true?

It's scary as hell, but unfortunately, right now, we do fit into all of the categories as far as I can tell.

But just because I believe in what the video is saying does not mean that I don't love my country. If I didn't love my country I would leave. I believe in what the US SHOULD be, and I work very hard at fighting to get our democracy back. Our current administration has made a lot of horrible, horrible 'mistakes' - many of which they made knowing full well how catastrophic they would be. I believe we can do better. I believe we can stand for real freedom and liberty, and I believe we can do it without killing thousands of innocent people, without allowing our children to fight a horrible war and die or come back scarred for life. I believe we can do it without destroying the environment for generations to come, and without destroying the livelihood of our own people.

You may see videos like this and think it is negative - but I see it as a reminder of what we are fighting against, and as a motivation to be HOPEFUL and OPTIMISTIC and to not accept the shit that the administration is flinging all over the world and our own citizens.

The military part was not quite right. Fascist states use their military to control their own people. I haven't seen our military roaming the streets detaining everyone who speaks out againt the government. They are all overseas. Call it occupation, nation building, bad foreign policy but it is not fascism.

The news part isn't right either. Our government does not control what the media releases. The government may say we would not like you to release this or that but they still have freedom of the press so they do not have to comply. Any media filtering is done by the media. Blame the media not the government for what they report. If you wanna see fascist media look to N. Korea where the government is the media.

Some were true but there were others besides the two above that were stretches or twisted the true meaning of the point it was making.

I'm sorry if I came off strong but that video literally almost made me sick. Go look at all the fascist nations the world has seen and then compare them to the US and tell me you really think we have it that bad that you can call our government fascist. I have a job, food, freedom to go wherever I want at any time to say whatever I want at any time. I have access to the entire world on the internet and there are no government filters on it. We are free, we are not oppressed in any way. Things could change but that's why we at DU are here. To keep our nation free from oppressive conservative policy. No matter what happens now it can be fixed later. That's the magic of how our government was structured by our founders.
