that was charged with investigating the intel on Iraq that reached the conclusion that the blame was squarely on the CIA and the analysts who gave the president bad intel?

Since there were reports as early as fall 2002 that dozens of analysts at the CIA were charging the Bush administration was "cooking the intel books" on Iraq, how did McCain miss studying their charges?

Was McCain so incompetent that he managed to miss hearing from these agents and analysts or was he running a sham, political operation whose only goal was to clear the Bush administration of all wrongdoing?

If Bush is guilty of MANUFACTURING the intel to go to war, then McCain is guilty of manufacturing a senate investigation of that intel to put the BLAME on the CIA.

1. It could but it won't

While obviously a number of people here have it in for McCain (not without reason), he's not someone we want to be tearing down right now.

Somebody is going to get the Republican Nomination in 2008, and we want McCain in that fight. He's a moderate and at odds with most of the other potential candidates. The bloodier the Republican Parties primary season, the weaker their candidate will be.

So I'd personally focus on how the DSM connects to the Bush White House.

2. I agree
McCain is the only smart freep in freeperville as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure that any of the other freeps want to mess with him.

4. But if they ALL lie to cover for Bush, then ALL shoiuld be held to account
for their dereliction of duty. They chose to be loyal to Bush over their loyalty to the Constitution and the American people.

3. But, it's good governance to expose a Senator using a panel to COVERUP a
crime of office by the White House.

The Democrats should make sure that McCain is exposed for his craven act.
