Dick Gephardt is a DICK
looking at his site http://www.dickgephardt2004.com/ it seems he's now focused on campaigning against Howard Dean.

:wtf:

instead of saying "let's show George W. Bush…" his message is "let's show Howard Dean…".

fuck him and the horse he rode into the Rose Garden on.

2. Kind of like "I am going to represent the Democratic wing
of the Democratic Party." Dean built his lead by attacking the Democratic establishment. I am not partial to any of the candidates but they all attack each other, it's politics and the front runner is always nautrally a prime target. It happens, in the end all of them will rally around the nominee.

4. that's not the same as putting up a web site to attack another candidate
which is exactly what Gephardt has done with http://www.DeanFacts.com.

5. How is it an attack...
If it's Dean's own words without commentary?

7. And if Dean was to put up a website
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 11:27 PM by wrkclskid
www.gepfacts.com or something, their would be lines of praise on DU. Dean is not a political saint, besides these websites only serve to get Dean more attention and galvanize his base. In my opinion it's a dumb move by Gep. But get used to it, Dean's on top now and how he weathers the storm will demosntrate what kind of genral election candidate he will be.
Edit: Not a rela site, don't hit the link! :-)

10. You really don't get it....
do you?

And not just you. Everyone bitching about these guys going after each other.

NewsFlash!!!

He actually is campaigning against Dean. Really. He is.

Amazing, isn't it? There are primaries coming up and somebody has to win there before they can face Shrub.

So they campaign against each other. If that makes anyone bashing Dean on the campaign trail a dick, then watchoo gonna do if Dean doesn't get the nomination?

See, then you're gonna have a choice of two dicks to vote for.

That's just the way it works.

When a President in office is becoming rapidly unpopular, you need to expect inter-party disputes.

I think it is a good thing.

13. What does he actually say on the site?
A Message from Steve Murphy, Campaign Manager

I don't know about you, but I've had enough. Howard Dean still insists that he's the candidate from "the Democratic wing of the Democratic party."

In 1993, Dick Gephardt led the fight to pass the Clinton Economic Plan that led to a balanced budget and the greatest economic boom this country has ever seen. It took guts for Dick Gephardt to lead that fight, and it took guts to pass the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban in the same Congress. Democrats paid the political price for both, but Dick Gephardt did what he knows is right.

And where was Howard Dean?
Howard Dean said it was a "good thing" Democrats lost control of the Congress. He said, "the new direction is not a bad direction." Howard Dean even said Democrats "deserved the losses they suffered … they veered too far to the left."

TOO FAR TO THE LEFT? And now he tells us he's the only real Democrat?

Umm, guess what? Gephardt really is more liberal that Dean! You all know that's true so why act like Gephardt stating so is some kind of low-blow tactic? Isn't Gephardt allowed to point out when he and Dean have differed on the issues in the past, as he does here:

Howard Dean went on to specifically endorse the Republican Plan to cut $270 billion from Medicare. He even called Medicare, "the worst federal program ever."

Well, before Democrats passed Medicare in 1965 a third of all seniors had no health insurance whatsoever. They either went without health care when they got sick, or they went bankrupt paying for it.

Medicare isn't one of the worst federal programs ever. It's one of the Democratic Party's greatest accomplishments.

<snip>

I was never more proud of my association with Dick Gephardt than in 1995. He dug in and won the fight with Newt Gingrich. The so-called Republican Revolution ended in one year, after they lost the government shutdown fight.

Remember what that was about? The Republican Plan to cut Medicare by $270 billion - the very same plan Howard Dean endorsed.

So when it comes to being a real Democrat, I'm putting my money on Dick Gephardt. And I hope you will too!

All that said, I'm glad Gephardt is such a long shot for the nomination. He would be a disaster - one of the least exciting candidates we have (I'll let you guess who I think is least exciting of all) and is one of the few I think would lose to Bush.
