It cracks me up the way Al Franken's "Dittohead" segment is dying
Al made such a big deal out of the fact that he was such a good friend with a dittohead, and how their friendship could survive differences in political opinions.

At first, their exchanges were pretty lively.

But now, you can just hear the exhaustion in Al's voice as he tries to put some sense into "Mark's" idiot head. Today, he finally resorted to just calling him "brainwashed".

Al is finding out, every day, slowly, just how irredemable Rush zombies are.

End the segment already, Al. It's a tired, embarrassing joke, and the only way to save your friendship with that sheep is to stop talking about politics of any kind. Thus has it ever been.

1. it's agonizing, but it's good practice in a way
Al figures a lot of us have similar conversations with our buddies, and he's providing talking points for all the usual propogandisms.

2. you know, I think that's why the segment suffers
It is way too much like real life when you actually talk to some of those people. We've all had that experience, and we don't need to go through it again when listening to the radio.

If I wanted that conversation, I'd just walk down the hall to my Rush-listening IT guy.

But you are right, I think they envision it that way - as a demonstration of how to "win" that kind of conversation.

Unfortunately, it just demonstrates how one can't "win" with those folks.

5. Exactly - you can't "win" because they're incapable of critical thinking.

They simply accept what they're told as gospel.

3. Al Franken's friendship with people like this guy and G Gordon Liddy...
may be commendable in some way, but it quite frankly makes me rather uncomfortable with him holding a major timeslot on AAR. He describes himself as a 'DLC Democrat' - what the HELL is that???

6. I think we already know what the DLC is . . .
and Franken's friendships will serve him well when he is in the senate, where, like all Democratic senators, he can be friends with all of these monsters.

Franken treats evil with way too much respect.

8. Al, like Bill Maher, hasn't seemed to accept the fact that
these people are truly evil. They still believe they can be friends with people who hold more conservative views than their's. Once they have that epiphany, which explains these are not your everyday conservatives, then you will see that aha moment emerge from them.

I think Al is almost there with Liddy. He said he was a sociopath, even though, he can be friendly with him, even having him over to dinner. I hope Frannie puts out the garlic and silver crosses before those events.

9. Yeah, he also seems to hold the fallacy that
these people hold him in equal esteem.

Can you imagine what self-proclaimed he-man and thug Liddy thinks of Al's nearsighted, adenoidal, liberal persona?

4. Amen, Professor Plum, Amen
I was listening to today's "conversation" and poor ol' dumbass Mark is so extremely weak. And he thinks because he can chime OxycontinBoy he is making a valid argument. He can not argue a DAMN THING for himself. He can only parrot back Lush Limpballs lies. And when proved wrong he tries to change the subject - just like a repug. I'm always surprised when Al hands him his ass he doesn't say, "Well, Clinton got a BJ in the oval office."

Not too long ago Al conducted a poll on AAR's web site on whether to keep the dildohead segment or not. Al said it was overwhelming in favor of keeping this jerkwad on the show. I will go to my grave believing that poll was freeped. Every single poll they every conduct always go against the Democratic point of view.

Mark is pathetic and lame and I would think that Al, as a good friend, would pull the plug on embarrassing his friend several times a week.

10. It is embarassing. I'm amazed that a real poll would show
such a result.
