anyone see jake plummer on espn speaking out about pat tillman & the war?
it was great from the few moments they showed

yesterday jake plummer was on espn news, and in a calm manner talked about how upset he was about how the military and the government had covered up what had really happened to his close friend pat tillman
called it "dirty business" and said he supported the troops but was "still against the war". i think jake said (like pats family) that pat was used as part of the governments plan to get a patriotic response from the country for the war
he also pointed out his great concern for pats family

i only caught the clip on espn news (i was looking for who won the sa - phoenix game) and was very impressed that this was even on espn and that they re showed it from an earlier program (the hot seat with brian kenney)
.
you may recall that jake was a very close friend to pat (i think they played in college and pros together) and he was also the one who wanted to continue to wear tillmans football number on his helmet after pat was killed.
however the nfl would not allow jake to wear the sticker (in tribute to his close friend) for longer than the one game/week.
wonder why that was...

just wondering if anyone else saw this. i did a search but no hits came so i thought i would share this

no matter who jake plays for im rooting for him! i dont care if he plays for the washington redskins ill still root for him anyway...

2. I used to hate Jake Plummer
Now he is my favorite NFLer.

Wouldn't it be great if other Pro Athletes would use their positions of prominence to speak truth to power? Maybe Plummer's bravery will inspire others.

ATLANTA -- NBA All-Star Game media days are usually filled with pithy quotes and clichés, but Dallas Mavericks guard Steve Nash veered wildly off the standard course Friday by using the occasion to speak out against war in Iraq.

Wearing a T-shirt that said "No war -- Shoot for peace," the Canadian celebrated his 29th birthday by making his position perfectly clear.

"I believe that us going to war would be a mistake," he said. "Being a humanitarian, I think that war is wrong in 99.9 percent of all cases. I think it has much more to do with oil or some sort of distraction, because I don't feel as though we should be worrying about Iraq."

Nash said he felt that U.N. weapons inspectors should be allowed to complete their mission before any further action is taken, and that the United States in particular had provided insufficient evidence to warrant an attack.

"I think that Saddam Hussein is a crazy dictator and in some ways a scary person, but I don't think he's threatening us at this point in time," he said. "We haven't found any nuclear weapons -- no matter what anyone says -- and that process is still under way. Until that's finished and decided I don't think that war is acceptable."

He also blamed the media for beating the war drum. "I think a lot of what we hear in the news is misleading and flat-out false, so I think it's important for us to think deeper and find out what is really going on."

As of yesterday anyway. They were eliminated by the Spurs in their quest for the NBA title.

3. Aren't most NFL team owners (if not all) Repukes?
They got the money for it (and, believe it or not, the socialist "revenue-sharing" . . .)

7. Believe it or not
here in right-wing Indiana, Colts owner Jim Irsay not only contributed $2000 to the Edwards campaign but is one of the top contributors to the state democratic party as well. Plus he owns the original manuscript of "On the Road" which I just think is damn cool. Herb and Mel Simon, the mall tycoons that own the Pacers are longtime Friends of Bill and big democratic contributors as well.
