1. Bolton's not a judicial nominee.
I don't see how this applies.

3. And one of the GOP signatories, John McCain, agrees with you
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), one of the architects of Monday's compromise on judicial nominees, downplayed the effect of Thursday's vote on efforts by moderates and mavericks in both parties to overcome Senate partisanship.

McCain noted that the compromise did not extend to other, nonjudicial nominations. But McCain conceded the Democrats' filibuster of Bolton could be seen as violating the spirit of the agreement. "It's not related to it, but it's unfortunate," he said. "I had hoped that the vote would turn out differently."

Here's the story. (Might need a free subscription to see it. Not sure.)

The only Republicans they quote that are saying the compromise is in danger are ones that didn't sign the deal. (Assholes like Roberts, Lott, and Frist, to be precise.) In short, the claims of the headline are unfounded.

5. Let's hope it puts an end to the "compromise" sham.
And, hope that a miracle occurs, and the Dems start to fight.

9. Since the LA Times couldn't find any GOP Senators...
who actually signed the compromise saying they were going to abandon the deal, you shouldn't get too excited. What Frist, Lott, and Roberts have to say on the matter is meaningless since they didn't sign the deal.

13. What exactly are you looking for the Dems to do
What kind of a fight are you talking about?

And how do you see such a fight bringing results with the Dems in the minority?

6. On AAR this morning they even said "Democrats block vote on Bolton"
when they should have said "Republicans unable to secure vote on Bolton" since the question was for cloture.

11. The Question should be...WHAT IS THE WHITE HOUSE HIDING?
Why wont they hand over the requested documents about Bolton? What reason do they have to not allow the Senate to see these documents? WHAT ARE THEY HIDING?

12. He wasn't part of the deal
And they're trying to call what the Dems are doing a filibuster, but I don't get why. They voted not to end debate. That's not the same, is it?

How does a filibuster really work? I guess I picture the "Mr Smith Goes to Washington" filibuster. What is this? A "poor-man's filibuster"?

Frist kept saying it was "like" a filibuster. Well, dude, either it is or it isn't. You just don't get to call it a filibuster because it'll spin better.

How is this different from a filibuster. Can someone educate me?
