RW chain letter crap. I think I've seen some posts in the past about this
Edited on Wed May-25-05 11:49 PM by Pirate Smile
but could anyone link me up with some info on it.

My father just forwarded me some of this crap.

"Subj ISN'T IT ODD
ect:

This is by a daughter of a murdered couple in Raytown who had a Bible and
Bookstore on 63rd Street.

When I had to testify at the murder trial of my parents a week ago, I
was asked to raise my right hand. The bailiff started out, "Do you swear to
tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth ?

I stood there and waited but she said nothing more. She said, "Do you?"
I was so stunned I blurted out, "What happened to "so help me God?" She
came back with "Do you?" I replied yes, but I was perplexed. Then the
judge said, "You can say that if you want to." I stopped, raised my right
hand and finished with "so help me God!"

I told my son and daughter that when it came time for them to testify,
they should do the same. It's no wonder we have so many problems in this
country. If I'd had my wits about me, I'd have told them that taking God
out of the courtroom is only going to result in more criminals and
murderers like him being in there. I don't know what can be done about it,
but it's time we stepped up and did something.

CNBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest
number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls and the
percentage was the same as this: 86% to keep the words; 15% against. That
is a pretty commanding public response.

I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't. Now it is
your turn. It is said that 85% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, I
have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having
"In God We Trust" on our money and having "under God" in the Pledge of
Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the 14% to sit down and SHUT UP!

If you agree, pass it on. If not, you know where that friendly little
ol' delete button is.

Wait! Do you really want to hit that Delete button? Are you so cynical and
hard-hearted that you don't believe God will hear people when they call on
His name? Now, decide whether to delete or pass it on."

My father doesn't like the religion stuff going on with the RW but he doesn't believe they are as powerful and scary as my Mom and I try to tell him they are.

I can't believe he sent me this RW crap.

I just wanted some good ammo or very persuasive evidence to reply to him with - I started to respond with "I can't believe you sent me this RW crap..." but stopped and thought perhaps I could find a more effective response.

If I don't respond tonight it is because it is late and I went to bed but I'll get back to you in the morning.

Thanks

8. I edited and deleted that part. Too much information but he can
be rather obtuse unless slapped upside the head with proof. He seems to just ignore or discount unpleasant or frightening things until absolutely forced to recognize them.

He didn't vote for Bush (he did in 2000 but now thinks he is dumber then dirt) but wouldn't vote for Kerry because of the Vietnam anti-war stuff. He doesn't recognize the dangerousness of the RW religious extremists - and he isn't religious at all.

4. The letter doesn't say anything significant, why should you?
It's just more voodoo Christianity. People seem to believe if you say the right chants God will perform some miracle.

Actually, here's a thought. Polls show that 95% of people in prison believe in god, whereas only 85% of the population as a whole believes in god. So you are much more likely to commit a crime and got to prison if you believe in God than if you don't.

On 4 November 2004, Kellen C. McKinney (27) was charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the deaths of the Caylors. His DNA being found on a bloodstained bag left near the cash register was the evidence that broke the case. When run through a DNA database, the sample matched McKinney, whose DNA was on file by virtue of his having served a prison sentence in Kansas.

However, that the murders were real does not mean the "daughter's" account of her experience in a courtroom is. News accounts refer to the Caylors as having three sons, but no mention surfaces of any daughter. Moreover, although there has been an arrest in the case, the suspect has yet to be tried, a fact that moves the "daughter's" account of her courtroom experience squarely into the fiction column.

6. Thanks. I thought a bunch of these chain letters had been debunked
but I hadn't paid that much attention (although I know they seem to be very prolific).

It just seems to be a way to play into this victim hood idea and creates "urban myths" that are untrue.

10. Thanks. I went to Snopes, copied the info on it about this letter and
sent it to him.

I told him to go there and see how many of the letters he recognizes because they are sending him RW propaganda to play up the Christian victimhood and attacks on "people of faith".

He gets the freepers at work and my Mom and I at home.

He is an "independent" who leans Republican. The last Democrat he voted for was LBJ but in 1992 he voted for Perot, 96 - didn't vote, 2000 for Bush and 2004 left it blank. Frankly we need to win over his type of voter but the Democratic Party name and label is very damaged with him.

9. Dueling Banjos plays ominously in the background as
Melanoma Cuckoobananas, the toothless, bearded freeperhag, makes up and sends out another RW propaganda email from her trailer in the old toxic waste dump just north of Brownsville, Texas.

Dittoheads all over America have no idea who Melanoma the freeperhag is. But they believe every lie in every email she invents and sends out to them.

11. Why do the RWers fall for this stuff so easily? I get this crap from them
all the time. It always amazes me that there are about 40 of these on the RW side for every one on the left.

12. 85% of Americans love mom and apple pie.
However, only 18% care about Chevrolets.

So tell that minority of mom and apple pie haters to SHUT UP!!!!!
