How far back do you think the the US will go before it is all over with?
With the loss of the rights over our finances, our bodies, our travel, our choice of pharmaceuticals, our right to work, our promise of a safe old age, our right to sue over faulty or deadly goods, the guarantee of pure water and air, a decent education for all people, a fair and equitable day in court when we have grievances, an honest and competitive media, we are again being shunted to the under society of the late 1900's. Just how far back will those who are not of the privileged classes be pushed before it is all over?

7. Sure hope so. This is what happens when a person who is rich and
stupid and unempathetic to others get his hands on power. We are living in very, very scary times.

16. Yes, for now. Question is, how long is 'for now.' I'd suggest doing...
.... everything you can to make sure 'for now' is 'forever.'

That will not be the outcome unless we all RAP, now.

Thank you for sharing your perspective; it is a valuable marker for where we are, but an illusive one for where the dictator Bu$h and his anti-feminist, neoconster buddies intend to be, soon.

Peace.

11. If we don't stop these freaks,
they will take us all the way back to the Dark Ages where a handful of people had ALL the wealth and lived in castles.

Science was subordinate to Preachers and Politicians. Superstition and magic ruled the kingdoms. The richest guy's wishes were LAW. The RICH could torture and Imprison ANYONE. WARS of conquest were waged on whims. Education was unavailable to the masses who were basically slaves to the wealthy.

Some people are working VERY hard to return this country to The Dark Ages.

17. It is their attack on science and the progress it provides for us all that
really makes me see just how backwards and freaky they are. In the past most Americans would have agreed that the progress of science was good and necessary for their survival as a forward thinking and moving nation. Now science is bad and some screwball idea of religion is good. This is exactly and directly opposite of the views of the founding FATHERS.

they will take us all the way back to the Dark Ages where a handful of people had ALL the wealth and lived in castles.

Of course that is their plan. They managed to set up a theocracy that
ruled for almost 1000 years, and reduced the general population to
serfdom. No despot since then has been able to accomplish anything
like that. (There has been a crash effort by Christian historians
to rehabilitate the Dark Ages recently. They insist they weren't so
bad after all, and even object to the use of the term "Dark Ages" to
describe the period during which their church pretty much ran everything).

Science was subordinate to Preachers and Politicians.

Evolution and Intelligent Design in Kansas

Weekend Edition - Saturday, May 7, 2005 · Hearings this week in Topeka focused on how the theory of evolution should be taught in Kansas schools. Proponents of intelligent design propose that students and teachers be encouraged to discuss alternate views to the theory of evolution.

Bankruptcy reform yields benefits for card companies

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- For nearly two weeks, the Senate debated whether legislation tightening the nation's bankruptcy laws would crack down solely on irresponsible spendthrifts or would instead rob many low-income Americans of their last refuge in the wake of a major illness or other financial catastrophe.

12. all the way back to 1858
and bleeding Kansas.

When it is all over, there will be no USA.

There will be the Red Kingdom of God and Blue New Columbia.
One third of the land mass of the old USA, and Canada will be in the EU. The rest will be a theocracy.

Prolly around 50 million folks will die in the fighting, another 50-100 million to starvation and war-induced disease. I figure at least one thermonuclear exchange will occur. DC and San Francisco, or Houston and NY would be my guess. Blockades and air strikes will do for the rest. I would not be surprized to see a decades long quarantine on the old US.

Roughly as bad as the total Soviet losses in WW2 and the Stalinist post war era, and certainly enough to destroy any chance of re-unification.

It will take 3 generations to get back to what we call a modern standard of living.

Ok, that's not the rosie scenario, but it is easily imaginable.
Remember that the Spanish influenza followed WWI, killing 50 million world wide in a year. We have lots worse shit than that.
