Is there support for a Republican forum?
Edited on Sun May-22-05 07:10 PM by paineinthearse
We have a Democrat forum. I'm thinking the rethug forum could be used to archive "dirt" like instances of abuses of power and cases of pedeophelia, fored sex, and other scandals.

2. More to the point.
There are a lot of Republicans here who have thrown in with us because the Bush Crime Family disgusts them. Perhaps a place on here where they could plot to take back their party would be a good idea?

3. That ought to be about as peaceful as 50meters outside the "green zone"
in Baghdad.

4. These folks are here already.
I know a few of them because they have written to me about White Rose.

They are Goldwater Republicans who vote Democratic and will until sanity is restored.

5. I do like that idea, actually
I think progressives today are far more conservative in the traditional sense than the 'conservatives' who are currently in power could ever possibly be. In fact, the 'conservatives' in power right now are the most liberal (in a bad bad bad bad bad way) people I've ever seen.

We want to conserve energy.

We want to conserve land.

We want to conserve the environment as a whole.

We wish to conserve the principles of the Constitution, not liberalize federal power.

We work to conserve human dignity.

Geez..... we got an image problem. A bad one. Maybe we should call ourselves 'preservationists' instead... I dunno....

6. Point taken. I'm open to any and all ideas.
As with any new group or forum, we would need a mission statement and backers to present to the admins. I'm open to any and all ideas.

16. You mean "Recovering Republicans?" I have some friends like that.
Fell for the Anti-Carter, Pro-Reagan B.S. - actually fell for the B.S. against Clinton - but now are beginning to have doubts. Most howerver, have not turned to the Democratic Party - instead they have this "all politicians are evil" stance.

9. Hmmm. Interesting.
There are a number of decent, honest Republicans here - unlike many, I know they can exist.

Might be a great way to draw more DHRs here to interact. After all, this is a place dedicated to small-d democracy.

I don't know if it would work, but it is an intriguing idea. Could be very tricky, though.

You should PM Skinner, see what he thinks.

10. NO! This is our Green Zone!
If you are a republican and abide by the rules here, that's one thing. But to have your own forum, no.
Would the freepers allow a democratic forum over there? Don't think so. They have a hard enough time with reality as it is.

11. Absolutely not
I want this to be a site for progressives. If these so-called republicans who post here need a forum, they can go to free republic. They bash the GOP all the time over there.

12. Maybe just a place to archive the aforementioned "dirt" rather than a
regular discussion forum for republicans.

13. Why do that when we clearly allow their participation?
As long as they comply with rules of decency, they obviously can participate here (where everyone left of center beats the shit out of everyone left of right).

There really is no need for such a forum. What exists allows quite a bit of right-wing rhetorical expression (unfortunately). Republicans who have common values have no problem whatsoever fitting in the current set-up.

15. A site with a lot of this data compiled already exists....
Have you had an opportunity to check out Redmorals?

http://tesibria.typepad.com/redmorals/2004/11/about_redmorals.html

The data is broken down into categories: what, when, who, and where.
A site completely devoted to the hypocrisy of the "morals" of the neocons....
