I think that what the US should do is hand over the rebuilding of Iraq to the UN to insure that Iraq doesn't continue to be completely and utterly dependant on the US, thereby making it a kind of US puppet, but the Bush administration I'm sure would be loath to do that, that want to further there own power by demeaning the UN, and the international community as a whole. They are further isolating the international community, and already our popularity in Europe is plummeting.

If the Bush administration insists on singlehandedly rebuilding Iraq, I think that democracy will eventually be achieved, but in a time far beyond any estimate that the administration promulgates.
