What's up with Randi Rhodes today?
She's not being her usual fiery self and seems to be in a pissy mood. She slammed AAR under her breath, complaining about not having a computer, cutting on callers.

Is it just me? Maybe she had a bad weekend...

She did just coin the phrase "Fristianity" which has legs...

1. Definitely in a very bad mood. I don't think she is feeling well
bec the other day, she said she has more pain now than when she had surgery

13. It's my understanding
after talking with several friends that have had the same type of surgery Randi did that the recovery is long and not a lot of fun. Two of these friends told me that they didn't feel "themselves" for almost a year afterwards.

I was worried when I heard Randi was coming back to work so quickly afterwards. We need her, but not at the expense of her health!

2. She didn't get to see Justice Sunday
I think she was planning on that being her whole topic today, since she made a big thing about it last week. The computer thing is about how she wasn't able to find out when it was showing and on what channel, cause she couldn't get on the internet. Most of the callers have been filling in the details, including a guy from cursor.org who actually went to one of the church showings in Minnesota, where all of thirty people showed up.

11. Uh...
Isn't there more than one computer in Florida?

Or was the problem more complicated than this?

20. QA - i think u are on to something...
Randi going to FL?
Randi dissing AAR today?
Randi "not able" to see Frist?

I thought she was just a bad mood bec of her health, now I think she has major problems w/ AAR.

God, I don't want her to leave....She can be abrasive as hell, but I have learned so much from her bec she is fvcking smart and is always fact-based.

She still rocks!

28. Hey I have listened to RR for awhile since the WPB days and
I know she has gone to FL on occasion. IMO, she sounded different today, just not herself and I think she is angry w/ AAR. She has been angry about this Air Cond. thing since last year....so

Hey, maybe she just doesn't feel well. Happy now?

10. Compared to what?
RW Radio or the Corporate Media?

Compared to other Progressive/Lib networks celebrating their one year anniversary (a non-existent entity) that would make it first rate by default. :)

15. Lighten up Francis.
"Luntzing" has nothing to do with it, when you're the minority party without a media stage you savor every victory.

I can turn on my radio in any city in the country and hear a half dozen Limbaugh wannabes. AAR is like NOTHING else on the air today and long overdue as a voice for the other side.

I have to agree... the movie slows after they get to Germany. Up until then though... very funny.

Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 03:38 PM by LaPera

I bought Sirius radio exclusively for AAR and have listened to AAR via the Internet since it's inception...I know AAR's strengths and its glaring weaknesses...Still I support them.

Skippy Rants, support AAR, buy some AAR gear...buy yourself a thong!

21. It's cool you support them, I'm into their message too.
And I agree all their messengers may not be perfect. The rough edges are slowly softening and the growing pains are slowing. One thing I don't agree with is the "X is better than Y" (i.e. "Ed Schultz is better than Randi") logic.

We don't hear Wingnuts comparing Wingnuts.

23. But, that becomes the point...
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 04:17 PM by LaPera
If one listens to an informed astute, passionate, liberal progressive professional like Thom Hartmann and then you listen to a self-promoting, listless, pontificating, which-ever-way-the-wind-blows windbag like Ed Schultz, who offers nothing in the way of passionate or compassionate liberal progressive ideology...(And I get them both on "Sirius Left" channel 143)

There is indeed a difference between "X and Y" and it certainly needs to be pointed out.

The right-wing has so many options and so many wannabes that I believe the "ex" republican Schultz, went "Leftie" simply because it was so crowded on the right...The right-wing has the luxury of not having to say shit or criticize their talking Nazi's because the ratings do the talking for them.

And if these right-wing talking heads are all about just spewing out hate and lies---then competing to be the biggest hate monger and the biggest liar...what do the "Wingnuts" have to complain about? They are getting exactly what they want to hear... hate & lies and death to liberals!

I think we are better than that and should strive to be so, and criticism should be a part of it...We are NOT trying to duplicate right-wing radio...I do not believe?

24. I agree with your every point.
Some more, some less, but fundamentally we're on the same page. I've only caught Schultz a few times and he wasn't my style either. I think his Repug background just might bring a few folks who are a little less progressive along for the ride (in a transitional sort of way)

Maybe Schultz made the leap left because of saturation, I guess in the end we need all the fence sitters we can get to fall off on the left side, if that means he has to play a transitional role perhaps that's fair penance for the sins of his Repug past.

Now if we can only get Fatboy, Insannity, and O'Liely to do it we'll really have something! :)

29. Agree, bec all of the wingnuts are Rush wannabes or just 'bots.
But AAR is so diverse. That's what I really like about it. Each show is so very different. I am so happy it's doing well!

31. Liberal enough
and about as progressive as the majority of our party, I should think.

I find him less shrill than Randi. And he was right about Soc Security, we had to keep fighting even if it looked like we were winning.

We need some moderates. There's nothing wrong with moderates.

And I still love how he exposed that diploma mill where Gannon got his credentials.
