There are two types of people in this world
They type of person that is able to realize that thir actions have an effect on others....

and those that don't.

It's not that the latter kind is careless or selfish, they are just dumb. Yet I contunue to give them slack time and time again. Could I just find one non-selfish person to give some slack? Just one?

I have to realize these people will never come around, no matter how hard things get for them. And no matter how hard others want them to come around. And no matter what anyone tells them.

1. or . . . to quote one of the greatest minds ever . . .

4. I want to go back in time...
to when the world looked to scientists for philosophy and not sociopaths.

2. No, there are two types of people in the world
Those who divide the world's people into two types, and those who don't. I'm in the second group.

3. There is a difference between Bush followers who are adolescent
and think in black & white, are disconnected from their empathy and related only to their own narrow tribe. They do enjoy scapegoating. They miss the big message of Jesus. They are not the majority of the population unless a leader gets into power who teaches this (and his handlers teach this). It is called growing down and is the opposite of a Jack Kennedy.

Then there are the adults who are not adolescent & tribal. The ones who are true participants in Democracy and have learnt that you do not get everything exactly as you would want.

Unfortunately, the Karl Rove's of the world have worked hard to increase the grown downs. Which are different than people who never grew up because they were sociopathic or stuck. Which are different from the adults who do empathize and see the shades of grey and do not buy into the black and white (efficiency expert).

Of course there are more than two types of Americans. But it is the ones who have been infantalized and buy the Rove delusion of an all 'white light' Bush who we need to worry about. And also our own DUers who are stuck and cannot seem to step back and let go of the 'sexy conspiracy theories' even though there is no proof and they were witness to none of it.

5. I think most people on the left are aware of the effect of their
actions on others. Otherwise they wouldn't be on the left. It's almost the defining factor.

6. That may be true in the political arena...
but I know plenty of Democrats who are selfish in their personal lives. It's sad, though, because the people losing out in the end are always the selfish ones.

7. I think it goes deeper than that.

There really are two different philosophies of life in the world at odds with each other. Either people are empathetic and thoughtful of the consequences of their actions, or they don't care about anything but themselves, how things will affect them and whom they step over to get theirs.

It's really generosity of spirit vs. selfish indulgence.
