but no mention of DU.
I resisted posting this, but one of these letters was printed/posted three times in the Star over the past few weeks.
The following three links below lead to the letters, the last link is the original post with a link to the March 13 column.
Excerpt from one letter:
Eureka! A breakthrough. Mr. Bowers has finally seen some light. In his article on March 13, he has finally realized that, while in the past he "fumed" and was "angered" (small a) by the "Angry Left" (capital A), he had often made his points "too meanly," that "I was under the impression that to counter those who disagree with me I had to smash them." Wow. I wonder what it takes to earn a capital A "Angry"?
And so he offered an apology to "decent Americans who just happen to disagree with the way George Bush gets things done" that he may have "gratuitously" offended.
I, as one of the "nitwits" and "haters" that "happen to disagree with" the Bush administration's policies, accept that apology. I am tired of being called nitwit, and hater, and unpatriotic, and a Saddam supporter, though I never supported Saddam. Not even years ago when Donald Rumsfeld was in Iraq shaking Saddam's hand and helping the US provide him with money and arms, including biological weapon components, to fight Iran. I wonder if that could be one reason the opposition is so Angry? <snip>

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=103&topic_id=112564#112894It has been reported that DUer MrModerate received a call from Mr. Bowers regarding his letter (post# 101, above thread) and asked permission to print it. Sending it to the editor may or may not prove more expeditious.
It well addressed the careless Ceaucescu comments that were made in the column.
