Though she acknowledged, "I haven't read the article," right-wing pundit Ann Coulter claimed that the "elongated funhouse photo" of her on the cover of the April 25 edition of Time magazine would ease the concerns of those "worried that the influence of Fox News would start a mainstream-media lovefest with conservatives." She continued: "For 20 years, we kept hearing, 'Oh, no, the media isn't liberal. They're not liberal. They're just trying to sell newspapers, just trying to sell newspapers.' ... apparently, Time magazine is willing to sell fewer magazines in order to run an unflattering photo of a conservative."

Everyone understands when they are looking at a deliberately distorted photo. No one REALLY thinks your feet are that big in relation to your head. We've all seen this type of fish eye distortion to know that's what we are looking at here. When people see these kinds of images, like a reflection in a Christmas bulb or gazing ball, they understand they are looking at a graphic distortion, that someone was trying to be "edgy", and our brains can automatically correct for this phenomenon.

We've all seen you flapping your gums on the teevee, we actually understand that this image has a deliberately distorted perspective -- (like some pundits.)

The only thing that's being revealed now is pathological insecurity.

Human Uzi Ann Coulter is on the cover of this week's Time magazine, and author John Cloud's profile of "Ms. Right" is largely sympathetic.

But yesterday, the best-selling conservative firebrand had blood in her eyes and venom on her tongue over cover photographer Platon's off-putting wideangle-lens portrait.

"Kim Jong Il was treated better," Coulter raged in an E-mail. "A CURVED-LENS PHOTO ON THE COVER? Just amazing. My feet are the size of the Atlantic Ocean and my head the size of a pea."

Time executive editor Priscilla Painton replied: "There are a lot of women who would kill for those legs."

But Coulter demanded: "Why are liberals so afraid to show conservatives as they are? Why is it always 'paraphrasals' of our points, and '60 Minutes' edits, and curved lens/fun-house photos?

"Needless to say, I'm not going to read it," Coulter insisted - though maybe she's having the piece read to her. "If they can't show a picture of me without distorting it, they're not going to quote me without distorting me."
