What is Free America?

Free America is an independent nation, free from the tyranny and corruption associated with nations such as the United States of America. In Free America, citizens are free from the influence of a corrupted government, free from the burden of unnecessary wars, free from a system that works for corporate interests instead of the interests of the people. In Free America, citizens are truly free, not just free in theory.

Where is Free America?

Like any nation, land is required to stake a claim to. The 2RA realizes that our numbers are not large enough to claim a very large piece of land in the name of Free America, so we're willing to start small. Our plans are to claim one small piece of sidewalk at a busy urban intersection, secede that land from the union, and to hold it for one hour as a new nation, Free America.

How will you go about this?

At a designated 2RA Gathering, we will draft a Declaration of Independence for our new nation. That Declaration, like the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America did against King George, will contain a list of grievances with our so called republican (small "r", not the party) government.

Then we will announce a time and place to form our new nation. We will arrive at the designated location and form a perimeter, a national border, and declare our new nation sovereign and independent.

Once you have this new nation, what will you do with it?

We will, for the first time in our lives, experience what it is like to be truly free individuals. We will not have to show identification, proving we are who we say we are. We will not be forced to pay taxes that support wars that kill thousands in our name. We will not feel like second class citizens because we may or may not believe in a particular god mentioned time and time again by a government like the United States of America. We will not be required to pledge allegiance. We will not be told who we can and cannot love and marry based on the religious and philosophical beliefs of some of the citizens. We will not be required to sign up for the draft when we turn eighteen. A list of the books we read will never be turned over to the government by our librarians. We will be be free, and we will relish that freedom.

We will also invite citizens from other countries, like the United States of America, to come and visit our new nation, and experience what it is like to be truly free, if only for a moment. Our hope is that once people of other nations experience a taste complete freedom, they will return to their country of origin with a new determination, hungry to move their society towards the ideals of Free America.

When will Free America declare independence?

A firm date has not been set. We are currently projecting sometime in Summer 2005. We will begin drafting the Declaration on May 10th in Pittsburgh, PA at the Public Gathering.

What can I do to help?

You can take part in the drafting of our Declaration of Independence. Submit a grievance to our list and/or vote for ones already submitted. We will be adding the most serious grievances to our final draft and announce it publicly on the day we secede.
