Agitating the Theocrats
Maybe that's what we need to do. We need to drive them over the edge. It will mean a guaranteed end to their reign, and this time it will stick. The 'christian' Right is a parasite that is leeching the GOP now. We sever the link and the 'christian' Right will be destroyed, as a person who has studied this for years, I guarantee it.

I believe I have discovered that the 'christian' Right has 2 and only two modes.

1. Slave Mode

This is when the 'christian' Rightists say "Shut up and vote for ____". They are very complacent and the believers are very obedient to people such as Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and anyone else. Examples of this are during Reagan's term and Bush's term.

2. Ape Mode

Picture a large animal running at you screaming and preparing to kill you. This is the 'ape mode' of the 'christian' Right. It was during this mode that Paul Weyrich denounced John Tower as an act against the Bush I Administration, as you could probably tell 'ape mode' also happened during the 'Get Clinton' Era.

What do we have to do? Push the 'christian' Right into Ape Mode.

How do we do this?

This may sound incredibly unorthodox being said on DU, but we have to push Bush to the Left. The GOP must also become more Centrist.

We are reaching a Critical Event of the 'christian' Right. If we don't push them into insanity, who knows what will happen.

1. Funny you should say that...
It's starting to happen already. - Democrats might only need to sit back and watch.

I'm also reminded of someone from the Nixon administration - a real conservative - who said that this administration is way off the charts.
I can't remember the name...
Any chance you remember who that is?

2. They have taken bill frist hostage
and he now knows the only way he may have a political future is to bow down and kiss the asses of the religiously insane. How sad for him. bush may not go too far left but he will not budge to the right and that will piss off the zealots who are starting to go "ape" shit now. Yesterday on American Family Radio (all hate all the time), some yahoo was talking about the spineless republican senators and how they are waffling on judicial picks and how there will be a price to pay come election time. Its like visiting a zoo.

3. Election Reform
It seems to me that if we had some form of proportional representation, we'd wind up with
The Religious Right
The Economic Conservatives / Lib Right
The Centrists
The Classic Liberals / Lib Left
The Populist Left
plus a few single issue parties.
