Has the FCC Fined Rush Yet for Using the Term "Blow-job"?
Here's the site for the FCC detailing what they consider obscene, and that obscene language is NEVER legal.

http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/obscene.html

Here's the e-mail to complain.

[email protected]

On the 13 April 2005 Rush Limbaugh, Rush used the term "blow-job" on the public airwaves to describe a certain sex act. What about the children?? I sent my complaint to the FCC. I just happened to have my young impressionable daughter in the car with me. I told the FCC that I was not too happy that Rush's obscene language required me to explain what a blow-job was to an 8 year old child.

I urge all other DU'ers that also had their children in the car with them and heard this to clog up the FCC's e-mail and fax machines.

I thought he should have gotten the Howard Stern treatment when a while back he called a sex-change operation an "Ad-a-dick-to-me".

Of course, since Rush is the right wings enabler, I bet there is not even a peep from the FCC.

This prick needs to be taken down. It's personal for me. I am active duty military and this punks show is broadcast on Armed Forces Radio. I also watched my two brothers change to Republican ditto-heads after too much exposure to this ass pickle.

On a positive note, after much work and an "intervention" on my part, my two former Rush-bot brothers voted for Kerry and changed their registration from Repuke back to Dem. The economy, the war, the way the Republican Party is destroying Ohio made them change their minds.

Seriously, Rush needs to be crushed. Tell me again why he's not in jail.

1. The FCC..
.... acts upon listener complaints. Even if 95% of them are on the same form letter from the same "organization".

If you heard Rush say that, you should complain to the FCC. They have to investigate, and if they decline to do anything about it, well that is more proof they are a partisan bunch.

2. FCC Can't & Shouldn't
They were wrong for fining Stern and for shouldn't get involved in content issues. No matter how much I despise right wing hate radio and Drugs Limpbaugh in particular (I have my own personal reasons as well), freedom of speech has to be protected, even when it comes from a drug-addled meglomaniac.

That said, it's time someone stood up and brought a civil suit against one of these bastards. I'd love for Michael Schaivo...who was a private citizen and has had his life libeled and slandered...to throw some major suits around and "Richard Jewel" these blowhards in their pocketbooks.

The game is the marketplace, and I won't waste my time going into the intricacies, but hate radio makes money and as long as it does, it will be prevelent on the AM Dial. Supporting Progressive Radio, if it exists in your area is critical, and letting local advertisers you hear on hate radio know you're offended by them supporting these lies will do more to crush Oxy-Rush than the FCC will ever do.

6. But the Bottom-line is that
they did get involved in content issues. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Should we just allow every personality that supports Democratic policies be fined, and fired, and intimidated, and silenced...but turn a blind-eye when one of the wing-nut personalities crosses the line?

Perhaps people would complain if the right wing hate radio jocks advocate the murder of progressives and liberals.

I guarantee you right now that if Randi Rhodes or Ed Schultz used the term "blow-job" on the public airwaves, they would be fined and intimidated by the FCC and the wing-nut enablers so quickly your head would spin.

8. The License Are Another Issue
Lost in the mess about what is said on the radio is how licenses are controlled and all but the private entities of a few large corporations. The "public airwaves" are now pieces of real estate controlled by corporations that use these license to profit in whatever way they see fit. If hate radio sells, that's what floods the airwaves. If advocating booty calls brings in the bucks, you'll hear that, too.

A corporation has little accountability for how they operate these licenses...and only have a perfunctory renewal every seven years. Anyone who wants to buy one of the limited frequencies better have very deep pockets...and anyone daring to challenge a license better not even think about it. I can't remember the last time a citizen's group challenged and won a broadcast license.

The FCC's place should be a traffic cop...ala FAA...that makes sure signals don't bump into other signals. And now in the age of digital radios and other means of distribution, their role in this area is greatly diminished. They have virtually no jurisidiction over Internet and Satellite Radio (for now) and these mediums will eventually replace those old AM & FM stations.

The game is played in the marketplace and, if needed, in the courts.

The need for more Progressive and Liberal and Democratic people to network in creating more alternative opportunities is how the ears are going to be won. Air America is one step, but it's small and many, many more are needed.

4. How do you know it was bout oral sex?
I mean given Rush's past . . . indescretions, maybe he was referring to some sort of obscure cocaine practice?

7. I Think His Meds Weren't Working too Well this Week
He was simply in melt-down mode. I think the divorce, his suppressed homosexuality, his drug addiction, and the fact that New York is suing him for back taxes are taking toll on him.

I feel soooooo sorry for him.

Yesterday he was trying to defend Tom Delay by ranting about all the Democrats that also did something similar to ole' Tom. I actually heard of couple of callers take him to task by pointing out that

-that argument is the same that kids use. "He did it too"
-but the Contract "on" America said the Republicans were going to restore integrity and dignity to congress
-that he was "Clintonesque" in parsing Delay's apology. One caller almost got to telling him his parsing was the same as saying "it depends on what the definition of 'is' is".

It was almost a classic week. I thought he was either going to cry, or pull a pistol and blow his brains out on live radio.
