Hey software experts... what the heck does this mean?
I tried to connect to a site and got this:

There appears to be an error with the database.
You can try to refresh the page by clicking here.

IPB WARNING <2> mysql_connect(): User hollyw86 has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections (Line: 115 of /ips_kernel/class_db_mysql.php)

Error Returned

We apologise for any inconvenience

Anyone know what this means?

(I have no clue who or what "user hollyw86" is)
Rightnationus has censured me before for nothing more than posting on DU. They are terrified of me for it seems they are anathema to facts.

1. Also... they have slipped a Trojan onto my system before as well...
It did some wierd things before I got rid of it.

Guess I should see what else they've put on my system.

Meanwhile - if any of you hounds can find out more info on "PMS enterprises LLC." in New Jersey beyond the 134 PO box... that'd be kool.

2. Seems like a user
Has too many connections and an error in MySQL database is preventing you from accessing the site.

A+ tech yo.

4. because of another user?
Hmm....

Then why would it only affect me from accessing www.rightnationus.com?

Or would it affect you too?

Thank you for the input.

3. Sure, I can point you in the right direction.
It looks fairly harmless. What happens is that in a SQL database such as MS-Access, it permits a certain number of users (database connections) to be "in" the database at any one time. It's not necessarily harmful, or even deleterious. I'd say, try the website again. The PHP page might be overloaded.

7. perhaps you can understand my apprehension...
These people have messed with me before for nothing more than posting here... really, they are children.

If it would not be too much trouble - see what you get if you connect to the site. It's just a 'conservative' kindergarten, I posted there for months without difficulty.

9. That is just an error.
Please don't panic, really.

Their database is overloaded and it won't let you connect.

It won't do anything to your computer.

10. I'm not panicing... but can you connect to it?
Edited on Fri Apr-15-05 01:02 AM by Dr_eldritch
see... If you can, and I cannot - then this is a 'directed' 'error'.

I'm sure any techie would find that cool.

And then I would know if it is targeted or not.

I would very much appreciate if someone could check;

www.rightnationus.com

If you can connect without the error message on the page - then it's targeted.

Then I have to fire up my anti-virus prog and start thinking of whether a website should be putting bugs and such on people's computers.

They are a high-volume site and I've not ever encountered this there even before elections... so I suspect this is intentional.

11. I got the same error message just by following your link . . .
and I've never visited that site before. I wouldn't worry about it, if I were you.

14. Thanks... I appreciate it.
These people have sent nasty things when my anti-virus was down, so I had a reason to be curious.

Thank you.

12. I'll take a stab at your problem
Edited on Fri Apr-15-05 01:14 AM by LdyGuique
1) IBP = Invasion Power Board (a software package, open source, coded in PHP)

2) MySQL = database software, open source code

3) This is a common error generated by coding problems within the IBP itself -- do a google search on "IPB WARNING <2> mysql_connect():" and you'll see it's commonplace.

4) There is nothing you can do as a member to a forum to correct this error -- only administrators on the site can do this.

They may have been dinkin' around and/or upgrading software -- notify them via email if it doesn't clear up in a day

If you are really really interested, go to the Invasion Power Board site (http://www.invisionboard.com/) and try tracking it further.

It is not directed at you as an specific individual -- they are having board issues.

On Edit (followup)
I too got the same error: Warning: mysql_connect(): User hollyw86 has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /usr2/home/hollyw85/www/latestheadlines_blogs.php on line 13
Could not connect to database!

13. So you see the same message when you connect?
I quite believe you - I have done the looking about and found the same things you have said, but if someone were to see the same error - it would quite settle this issue for me.

If not - then I guess I have to do some investigating.

Thank you for you assistance.

16. I even get the same error . . .
when I connect to that site through a proxy, so I don't think they're targeting you.
