Signs seen today on two cars: "Must Sell Immediately"
I have never seen for-sale signs on cars that said this. One car sign said it would give a 70% discount. Things must be getting really bad economically. I live in a wealthy right-wing place.

1. I live in a wealthy leftwing place
And I have a townhouse for rent in a similarly wealthy area. I've interviewed a number of tenants--maybe 10 or so--and out of that 10, 2 sold their houses because of medical bills.

Both admitted upfront they had lousy credit because of it. Both seemed like very nice people--just hit with no health insurance.

There but for the grace of God go I. I don't have any either.

3. Both cars were modest
one a Honda and the other a Dodge Caravan. Both middle-class autos. My husband thought maybe they had maxed out their credit cards.

4. Down here in NC
I started noticing this last month. On the highway between Winston-Salem and Boone, in almost every driveway, in almost every yard, at almost every intersection there are cars for sale. I've never seen anything like it.

6. Me, neither....also people hired to hold signs
a store here is going out of business and guys have been holding signs about it on the street for over a month. Can you imagine, sign-holding as a job? It is awful to see.

11. LaborReady Sign Holders and Newspaper hander-outers
Edited on Thu Apr-14-05 01:19 PM by IanDB1
A local furniture store has been having a going-out-of-business sale for the past two years.

They hire sign-holders from LaborReady to stand on the sides of the road advertising their sale.

They guys are all over the place.

LaborReady also pays the people who hand-out free copies of The Metro at train stations.

Both jobs pay $10/hour.

LaborReady charges companies $14/hour to hire them.

Those are the figures I was given back in August 2003.

Still, there are worse jobs...

12. not really, I noticed some trucks
but alot of them are just passenger cars. They look like second vehicles mostly. People needing to get rid of them for cash.

5. My uncle once told me about a car parked across the street in a vacant lot
It had a sign next to it with a little picture of a lemon and it read "This car is a lemon. If you're in interested, call "

That one cracked me up.

7. I'm noticing lots of modest cars for sale too...
I thought for sure I'd start seeing SUVs on the market, but it's mostly Hondas and other sensible vehicles.

Middle-class is taking it hard.

8. I remember signs like that back in the '70s.
Record (for the time) gas prices, double digit inflation, rising unemployment.

Looks like happy days are here again.

14. The piper has come a-calling.
A lot of Americans have been living on credit cards and re-fis for the last four years.
The serfdom is taking place according to neocon plan.

If any of you are watching CSPAN right now you are seeing the middle class being stripped of further rights....no bankruptcy for anyone but big bidness.
