Remember Kerry's dorky bike-helmet photo?
Edited on Mon Apr-11-05 04:52 PM by UdoKier

Well...

Carrying an iPod full of worn-out classic rock tunes like "brown-eyed girl".

I'll show you a $*&@%# brown eye....

First, Bush's iPod is heavy on traditional country singers like George Jones, Alan Jackson and Kenny Chesney. He has selections by Van Morrison, whose "Brown Eyed Girl" is a Bush favorite, and by John Fogerty, most predictably "Centerfield," which was played at Texas Rangers games when Bush was an owner and is still played at ballparks all over America.

The president also has an eclectic mix of songs downloaded into his iPod from Mark McKinnon, a biking buddy and his chief media strategist during the 2004 campaign. Among them are "Circle Back" by John Hiatt, "(You're So Square) Baby, I Don't Care" by Joni Mitchell, and "My Sharona," the 1979 song by the Knack that Joe Levy, a deputy managing editor at Rolling Stone in charge of music coverage, cheerfully branded "suggestive if not outright filthy" in an interview last week.

Might be too small to read the text, I just threw it on some free server in tiny form in case I needed to access it. If anyone would like a larger version PM me and I'll send it to you.

Edited on Mon Apr-11-05 04:57 PM by Lisa
Those nasty facial expressions, plus his natural ability to make anything he's wearing appear silly, might discourage people from taking precautions. Every time I see him in safety goggles, helmets, etc., I expect to hear that the manufacturer will start offering to pay him NOT to wear their product.

Posted in an earlier thread by ElsewheresDaughter. Contrast with the pleasant, much less menacing pic of Kerry.

It's getting harder for them to push the "super-athlete" image, ever since he started putting on the pounds (like a normal 50-something male). Of course, that wasn't good enough for his handlers -- he had to be on par with Lance Armstrong, because they wanted to make his opponents appear soft and indolent by comparison.

Anything that reminds me of that ass wipe makes me want to hurl. I hate Texas and Florida now and only he could destroy a great Van Morrison song. The idiot is an insult to what had been moral and decent in this country. I have no respect for the office of the presidency anymore and have even lost interest in U. S. history. I cannot believe that a lowlife of his caliber could become president of our country even in a rigged election.

22. There are a HUGE number of people who think ALL cyclists look dorky.
They are the "manly men" who worship at the altar of the NFL, who never get around except by their huge suvs. I hear cracks about cyclists, many involving anti-gay slurs (*because you gotta be gay to ride a bike) like that. It's not uncommon at all. I've heard people on right-wing radio suggesting that drivers deliberately blow cyclists off the road because "they have no business being there."

he's "new country." Traditional country is like Willie Nelson, Lorletta Lynn, Patsy Cline. Just to show you that Bush doesn't know anything about country music. It's just for his cowboy appeal. Alan Jackson, to me, comes close but he's still considered "new country."

45. Bush's last e-mail (no kidding)
""My lawyers tell me that all correspondence by e-mail is subject to open record requests," Mr. Bush wrote to the group, which included top aides and business people. "Since I do not want my private conversations looked at by those out to embarrass, the only course of action is not to correspond in cyberspace. This saddens me. I have enjoyed conversing with each of you."

Until that moment, when Mr. Bush wrote that "sadly I sign off," he kept in contact with these people through often daily e-mail messages, which he would usually dash off early in the morning before embarking on the campaign trail. (The missives were generally to the point — a sentence or so. Mr. Bush preferred all lower-case letters and little punctuation except dashes between thoughts, and would usually sign off, simply, "gwb.")"

http://www.nytimes.com/2001/03/17/politics/17FRIE.html?ex=1113364800&en=8fa1621c872fe190&ei=5070

I bet they were relieved when he went offline -- my guess is that he'd be the type to spam everybody with whiny self-righteous rants.

60. He was probably the type who would forward the those mindless pieces of
crap about kittens and beaches and "God loves you. Now forward this to ten people".

Kerry uses Email too and even has a website that is updated pretty often. :) Too funny. I wonder if Bush has someone help him with Email.

I can't imagine him sending self-righteous rants, since I don't think even he buys into this pretense about him being a righteous man. Recall how he once answered the question, "What do you and your father talk about?," with a curt comment: "Pussy." I would guess he is more a devotee of Niccolò Machiavelli than Jesus Christ.

As for his email habits, my best guess is that he was the annyoing, juvenile type who sends pics or movies of porn bloopers.

39. Hot! Hot! Hot! Red Hot Chili Pepper! Wow a repost of my favorite photo
the one that was supposed to shame the Chimp in his "Fly Boy Suit" with the socks stuffed in his crotch!

Mary Beth Cahill....oh man...do you need to pay for this one.

The "Statemen Kerry" was what we wanted to see...not this photo op like the one with the dead duck or goose in new "combat fatigues."

Kerry was terribly mismanaged.

And has for many years.

44. Sooooooo...this is what we do when our poll numbers turn to poop.
CNN covered this crapola today, too.

Hello! Welcome to "Operation Let's Humanize the Murdering, Unpopular, Shameful, Warmongering Failure."

Nice, try.

I can see the PR weasels strategizing, "Ok, we gotta say he likes "Centerfield". That's like sooo American and it will help with the middle-class baseball fans! Van Morrison will appeal to the Boomers! Throw in a few country tunes for our possum-eating base!"

Remember when Bush's polls were tanking a few weeks ago, and the NY Times wrote the puff piece about him becoming more playful and scrappy? This iPod story is a variation on that puke-inducing theme.

I can't wait to see what's next...a Vanity Fair photo essay of Junior in his railroad-train jammies. Awww...look at him with his hot cocoa and cookies before beddy night...ohhhhh, there he is signing the Schiavo bill in the wee hours of the evening. Gag.

There isn't enough fluff in the world to convince me that this squinty-eyed stack of evil bricks has one ounce of humanity running through his frozen, compassionless, shriveled up, dessicated heart that runs on used motor oil.

Next!

69. Everything about Chimp is "shriveled." But until we can move past MACHO
then where the hell are we? Clinton didn't have to go against Poppy with Motor Photos of Harley or Skiiing in Idaho and Windsurfing. Why did Kerry need to succumb to these dumbed downed, media displays of his BIG DICK to go against SOCK DICK.

I think it's kind of obscene. But then I always preferred "Logical, Unassuming,Brains over Brawn." So, I just might be "out of style" in MS America. In these days of "Reality Shows" I'm sure I'm "out of touch." What's tucked into the bikini seems to pass for what's in the cranial...ugh....

80. Not compared to THIS:

Is there something about Massachusetts presidential candidates that they INSIST on looking as geeky as possible?

I would have CANCELED the tour if it involved me crawling around looking like that. Image is everything, sad but true.

83. Some people like to hear the same songs repeated endlessly.
I have nothing against the song, but it's been in heavy rotation for 35 years. I don't really care to hear songs on my iPod that are playing in every convenience store I go to.

88. First of all Kerry looks a little sexy on that bike
and that is not an opinion that I generally hold of Kerry. George looks like a goofy bastard. He is a goofy bastard, so that may have much to do with it.

Also, I happen to like Brown Eyed Girl.

But that's just me.
