Special "Guy James Show Thread" Please keep kicked -regarding nostamj
Edited on Sat Apr-09-05 04:34 PM by BeachBuckeye
Hello loyal listeners,

We will start the show tonight with a tribute to Jeff Matson, a friend to so many of us. I have something to say and when I'm done I'm asking that a few of you please call and give us your thoughts about this tragic loss. Please do call!!

1-888-602-7500, 7501, 7502, 7503, 7504 or, locally 239-479-5540 in Ft. Myers or 239-263-6570 in Naples. We're on WINK-1240AM and WNOG-1270AM from 7pm till 10pm.

We have lots to talk about tonight including Tom "the Bugman" DeLay, the Pope's legacy, and, of course "THE MEMO". Please join us for a great show. But, most of all, please join us to honor Jeff at the start of the program. I know many of you have much to say about this great guy so please do call. Listen live at www.theguyjamesshow.com

Best Regards,
Guy

3. Kick
I imagine Michael will call in---Jeff's death really shook him up; they used to talk on the phone on weekends while I was down there visiting.

So sad--that guy had more talent that most of us put together.

Now that his numbers are plummeting, Bush is going to give a speech on terrorism. Will that help prop up the little emperor?

I am not sure about this, but I do not remember Bush ever sitting in the oval office looking the American people direct in the eye and giving a speech like his predecessors or his daddy.

19. Will just Delay fall?
I wonder if any one else will fall with DeLay. Since he financed every other Rep in the the house, could there be a large number of them being smelled out. I am sure he bribed all of the Reps and some Dems. If the Democrats had a crook like DeLay in the party, I would become a Republican.

Edited on Sat Apr-09-05 07:58 PM by JanMichael
Guy acknowledged the huge social problems that this Pope has assisted with archaic birth control opinions but what about hiding pedophiles?

Like this one?

In my most humble non-Catholic opinion this Pope was an irresponsible reactionary. Reactionary? Yep, to the Vatican II, and those pesky forces for the Poor, the Libertation Theology folks.

Oh, well, I guess that the MSM has convinced most everyone that this guy deserves the accolades...

Lunch programs are his burning issue. I wonder what he would have said to Jesus when he multiplied the loaves and fishes? Not that I believe that story. But this guy would no doubt have marched up to JC, jab him in the chest and start a snarky lecture about responsibility.

Hang up, Guy! It's almost like he's been planted to waste time. Oh! A Libertarian! Now I get it. Never mind.

55. I hate to inject some facts into this school lunch "discussion"
but that joker was so misinformed that I could not belive my ears.

8. How many children have been served over the years?

The National School Lunch Act in 1946 created the modern school lunch program, though USDA had provided funds and food to schools for many years prior to that. About 7.1 million children were participating in the National School Lunch Program by the end of its first year, 1946-47. By 1970, 22 million children were participating, and by 1980 the figure was nearly 27 million. In 1990, an average of 24 million children ate school lunch every day. In Fiscal Year 2003, more than 28.4 million children each day got their lunch through the National School Lunch Program. Since the modern program began, more than 187 billion lunches have been served.

9. How much does the program cost?

The National School Lunch Program cost $7.1 billion in FY 2003. By comparison, the lunch program's total cost in 1947 was $70 million; in 1950, $119.7 million; 1960, $225.8 million; 1970, $565.5 million; 1975, $1.7 billion; 1980, $3.2 billion; 1985, $3.4 billion; and 1990, $3.7 billion.
