the ARROGANCE of this statement is ......... incredible.
The president wanted to stay out of the public limelight ahead of the funeral because "he recognizes the significance of the moment," said McClellan.

LIKE THE THRONGS OF PEOPLE WHO HAD GONE TO ROME WERE ALL GOING TO SWOON AND SWAY IF THE BUSH BOY MADE AN APPEARANCE. tHE reality is that people BOOED HIM WHEN THEY SAW HIS FACE ON THE T.V. SCRREENS. and the reality is BUSH STAYED OUT OF THE PUBLIC LIMELIGHT AHEAD OF THE FUNERAL BECAUSE HE KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO BOO HIM AND BECAUSE HIS MILITARIZED JACKBOOTS WERE NOT AROUND HIM TO PROTECT HIM FROM THE BOOGEY MAN.

2. Not only that, but it's amazing how MUCH the Italians love Clinton!
I know the Big Dawg wasn't so nice to gay folks, with DOMA and 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' and all that... but in all, I liked him. He actually seemed to care about people.

The thing I find saddest is he nearly lost the office over a blowjob.

Meanwhile, the current occupant of the White House kills tens of thousands with impunity, makes torture legal, imprisons people without charges, and works steadily to bankrupt the country.

*sigh*

3. Americans - The Short Bus People
The rest of the world knows that we elected a buffoon and imperialist. With Bush's current 42% approval rating there is hope that people are wising up. I hope it's not too late.

5. AP-Ipsos poll-44 percent
The Republican president's job approval is at 44 percent, with 54 percent disapproving. Only 37 percent have a favorable opinion of the work being done by Congress, according to an AP-Ipsos poll.

Rasmussen is notoriously skewed favorable to Republicans and is not a trustworthy poll-everyone knows that.

Bush had to attend this funeral to shore up his Conservative Catholic base. It's quite clear he ducked visability while in Italy because he knows he is so extremely unpopular in Europe. The little twerp is as much a wimp as his father ever was.

13. He also could have sent Jimmy Carter...
...instead of freezing Carter out in a classic snit-fit of Bush peevishness.

Also, Dubya's being there gave CNN's Anderson Cooper the opportunity, on seeing him in the crowd, to say of the Pope and Our Dear Leader: "They are Both Men of Faith."

gag me

26. so if Bill Clinton went out twice to take in the sights and sounds, and
little shops on the backstreets of rome, if he was not afraid to walk among the crowd, if the crowd did not pose a threat to him bu cheered him CLINTON! CLINTON! CLINTON! ... why then, did the BUSH BOY keep his hide inside his hotel room attending just about half of the official dinners nad other functions planned for dignataries AND why did he only move in the limousine provided for him with one American flag and one Vatican flag?

The BUSH BOY IS a WIMP, a COWARD and to top it all off HE IS DAMNED PARANOID!!!!!! He only feels comfortable among the NASCAR CROWD and among the soldiers in military bases, answering questions to pre-screened crowds and keeping true grit patriots who want to ask real questions of him locked away in dissenters' pens far and away from him, or locked up in some jail cell. Something which is neither CONSTITUTIONAL nor AMERICAN, PLUS... he may have not known BEFOREHAND that he was going to get BOOED and found it out shortly after he set his DARLING LITTLE FEET on ITALIAN/ROMAN SOIL only to experience the absolute let down of the chilly/icy reception he appeared to have experienced when he first visited the Sistine Chapel and the Pope's body Wednesday afternoon and when may have gotten some of his first real live booes then along the way!

The Bushler Boy is all about spin and his trusty Scottie McClellan loves to spew it out.

6. I heard 41% today. It was on a news report. One of the latest polls.
His numbers just keep slipping. And quite frankly, I think even these numbers are being "kind."

Hastert couldn't go in the monkey's place, because Denny boy had to have an operation of some kind. Anyway, a team of wild horses wasn't going to keep the bastard from going so he could keep a close eye on Condi and Bill.

12. I had another head banging moment
today--inregards to another spontaneous Bush gaffe--
He called the Pope's funeral the "High point of my presidency."

Going to a funeral is the high point of his presidency? Wouldn't KNOWING the Pope, meeting with him, etc, be a high point?

Also kudos to the Italians who appeared to treat Bush with a measure of forbearance

14. How did you like the Strategic Vision methodology?
I should introduce you to my good friend Truth Is All.

Hey by the way, did you think there was anything odd about the Ohio exit polls varying up to 15% from the final counts in areas with an auditable paper trail? As opposed to the areas without an auditable paper trail?

Just curious. Got to go open a window, it's a little stinky in here...later!

Says 44 percent. Still, atrocious. You seem pretty staunch in your defense of Bush. Are you sure you are on the right board?

22. Well what is it then?
You say they get new figures every 24 hours. Today AP reports 44% - tomorrow it may be different. What do you think it is, and why is your assessment any more correct than what AP reports today?
Furthermore, why so staunch in your defense of Bush on a Democratic board?
